Taylor Swift’s $4.9 Million Cape Cod Beach House

by hookedonhouses on August 16, 2012

Taylor Swift's Hyanis Port House

Pop star Taylor Swift is reportedly buying this 7 bedroom, 5.5 bath beach house, which is next door to the Kennedy Compound. I’ve gotten lots of emails from readers asking me to track down photos of it, and your wish is my command. It was on the market for $4.9 million–take a look:

Taylor is dating Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s son Conor, who will be a high school senior this year. Sadly, his mother Mary committed suicide in May.

The kitchen looks nice and big and bright with all those windows. Is that pink laminate on the countertops?

According to the listing, it’s “Located on a private road with a security guard in the summer months.”

The house was on the market for nearly 4 years. The initial asking price was $14 million, but it had gone down to $4.9 by the time it was purchased.

The house was built in 1928 and has 4,400 square feet.

It sits on a little over an acre of land in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, “perched on a bluff overlooking Nantucket Sound.”

Thanks to Kim for helping me track down the photos and info. More here: Hot Pads, People, Too Fab, and Daily News.

Taylor reportedly took Conor to Nashville to meet her parents Scott and Andrea recently. Remember the historic Nashville estate Taylor Swift bought last year? A little birdie tells me it was actually a gift for her mother.

*8/12 UPDATE: A local website is calling this a celebrity rumor that got out of control. They’re reporting that someone else bought the property–not Taylor. Read about it here: Cape Cod Times. (Thanks, Donna!)

*3/13 UPDATE: And now several media outlets are reporting that Swift did in fact buy this house last year, gave it a makeover, and sold it again this month for a million-dollar profit. You can see my post about it here.

Lucky young lady! She’s worked hard — she also gives to many charities. Just hope she doesn’t get into trouble keeping up with the Kennedy clan. Don’t get me wrong I think the Kennedys are great folks, but bad luck seems to surround that family and I hope she continues to be an independent girl! I wish her luck! :)

kate August 16, 2012 at 9:30 pm

They are trouble, a lot of it their own making. They feel they are exempt, “not like other people”, especially other people in MA. I hope and pray she and the boy don’t work out. She’s such a sweetie pie, and has morals well above the Kennedy Clan’s.

CeCe August 19, 2012 at 1:14 pm

I agree with everything you said. I don’t understand how/why people are fans of the Kennedy gang. So many sketchy people.

And he is way too young for her.

Dean August 16, 2012 at 10:08 pm

Ironic first two posts as I was thinking along the same lines. Don’t know them personally, have nothing against them, but I wouldn’t marry into that family. Too much baggage (and his mother committed suicide recently?–good gravy!) Hope all works out for her though.
The house is nice. Typical New England coastal estate. :-) Those kitchen countertops would be my first change. They look cranberry to me, but maybe they are pink. They don’t look good whatever they are.

ella August 16, 2012 at 10:25 pm

I find it strange that Taylor Swift, someone who has toured the world and is uber-successful at what she does, is dating a high school senior. I don’t care if he’s a Kennedy, he’s still in high school. Weird.

Awesome house though.

Cindy August 17, 2012 at 8:02 am

If my (now 20 year old) son was dating a 22 year old as a high school senior, I would come unglued! On the flip side, if I was her mother, I would also be extremely concerned. The Kennedys don’t exactly have a stellar history when it comes to relationships/women.

All the way around, I say YIKES!!!

Meg August 17, 2012 at 10:03 am

Same here! She shouldn’t touch that family with a 10 ft pole and why in the world is she dating a high school senior?
I used to be glad that my girls liked her music since she seemed so normal, but now I’m starting to wonder.

crawford dayne August 17, 2012 at 10:04 am

She does not own it folks.

bob August 17, 2012 at 1:15 pm

Do you know that for certain and can you provide proof? I for one would be extremely happy if she hadn’t bought it. I agree with most everyone here that she should run as fast and as far as she can from these amoral sociopaths. Last week the Boston Globe said the house was bought by a Hedge Fund Investor from NY and I would like to believe that it’s true.

Crawford Dayne August 17, 2012 at 10:08 pm

Your publically calling Conor an “amoral sociopath”?

And your basing this on some personal psychological insight?
Or just making a general statement assumption and judgment not based on reality or really anything other than what “you’ve heard”. That’s sad.

Anyway, the house is really great, I was thinking of sending Julia some video of it from the beach tonight!

Wendy August 16, 2012 at 10:56 pm

What a great house! It’s totally real. Gosh, I hope she doesn’t change a thing, right down to the pink countertops. While that house could be a real designer showplace, I’m so glad it’s not.

Dating a high school senior is creepy, though. I’m guessing his world experience rivals hers, being a young Kennedy. But that’s just too young to be with someone her age, especially at such a fragile time in his life.

Mimi August 16, 2012 at 11:04 pm

Thank you a million times over for this fabulous posting! I have been anticipating these photos since the news broke of Swift’s new home purchase on Cape Cod. I just knew you would come through for us. You are a jewel.

Lighten up, ladies! Legacy can be a beautiful thing, too.

Sending love and light to Taylor Swift and new beau Conor Kenneday. I am sure she will be sensitive to his young and grieving heart.

Linda@limeinthe coconut August 17, 2012 at 2:07 am

Well who knew? I dunno why I thought she was older than 22. Great house bones…I would need to do a little work, well maybe a lot…..If *I* were to own the 4.9 mill place. Pocket change. ;)

hookedonhouses August 17, 2012 at 7:15 am

Yeah, she started young!

Stacia August 17, 2012 at 5:16 am

Isn’t her show on in the fall? Isn’t it called Revenge??????? Just sayin. :)

Michele August 17, 2012 at 9:44 am

Tricia August 17, 2012 at 7:41 am

So happy you posted this!! Great potential… I hope someone publishes pics after she’s done remodeling. I agree that she shouldn’t change the Nantucket feel, but it does need some TLC. Had to laugh at the quote about being perched on a bluff. There are no “bluffs” in Hyannis! Just a small sand dune. I admire Taylor and can’t wait to hear the break up song she writes about this one :-)

hookedonhouses August 17, 2012 at 7:45 am

That’s real estate speak for ya! A sand dune becomes a bluff. Ha.

nancy August 17, 2012 at 7:48 am

Foolish girl to buy property next to someone she’s “involved” with. Then again she was involved with John Mayer which says plenty about her choice in men albeit he’s a high school student (disgusting).

Not crazy about the house and if the selling price was far below the asking price which has me wondering what else is wrong with it besides living next to the neighbors from hell.

Megan@TJReviewer August 24, 2012 at 2:13 pm

I think the rich approach real estate transactions a bit differently – “Oh, I’ll just sell if we break up.”

This is a beautiful home, but it seems kinda old for Miss Swift. Does any 22-year-old really think “I need a place to spend the summer, so I’ll just go to Cape Cod”?

Mindi August 17, 2012 at 7:51 am

Yep, Tricia! I thought the same thing, “what’s this song gonna sound like?” And how, exactly, are the Kennedys going to feel about him being portrayed in that way?! I love her just not necessarily her boyfriend choice on this one but then again, it’s not like any of us actually know them!

Luciane at HomeBunch.com August 17, 2012 at 8:06 am

Good morning, Julia!

How are you doing? I hope you’re doing great!

This house feels a little too serious, too “granny” for me, but I’m sure she’ll make it her own.

Wish all the best to her and her new love. :-)

Luciane at HomeBunch.com

paula soares August 17, 2012 at 8:10 am

I wish all the best to her and find peace and happiness in this house…A dream come true!!!

Shelly Herr August 17, 2012 at 8:23 am

I love the house! It reminds me of the house that was in the movie ‘The World According to Garp’ with Robin Williams. Anything next to the water I love! :)

Carolyn August 17, 2012 at 8:35 am

What happens when they break up? I bet that pink countertop is ceramic tile. That would have to go, as well as that oxen or mule yoke light fixture over the dining table. The whole kitchen needs help. I’d want to replace the sliding doors with French doors, which they would have been originally if this was part of the 1928 construction. Some updating of fabrics and upholstery would help (did it come furnished?), but I hope she keeps that New England/Cape Cod character. I notice it still has radiators – must be a bear to heat unless they close it up for the winter. I wonder if it has air conditioning? Seeing those radiators made me wonder (no duct work with radiators). Surely it does. That sunroom on the end looks tacked on (see view of front, it’s on the left end). I’d have an architect work some magic with that (that is, if it were mine and I had Taylor’s resources). But you can’t beat those views.

Gerry August 17, 2012 at 8:38 am

I thought Taylor would have better people advising her. Dating a Kennedy and then buying the house next door?????? I have a feeling this will all end badly.

Laura August 17, 2012 at 9:03 am

Sorry, I couldn’t pay attention to the house – all I could think about was this creepy relationship. They may both be the nicest people in the world and all, but a 22 year old megastar (mommy substitute) dating someone in high school and then living next door? Too weird.

Juju at Tales of Whimsy... August 17, 2012 at 9:25 am

I love all the wood.

House Crazy Sarah August 17, 2012 at 9:26 am

well all relationship drama aside, it is a great house. Sure the decor is kind of dated in an ’80s way, but that stuff is all changable. The home actucally wonderful architectural features – and can’t beat those ocean views!

Patricia August 17, 2012 at 9:30 am

I think she’s silly buying a house next to her boyfriend. I don’t care who he is. She’s a pretty, talented girl. She shouldn’t feel the need to insinuate herself into a boy’s life so blatantly. It makes her look foolish. If I was dating someone, and he bought the house next door to me, red flags would fly. The house itself is seriously remuddled and dated in a 1970′s kind of way. Ceilings are low. Kitchen is ugly. Rooms are dark and boxy. It doesn’t look comfortable or cozy, which is probably why it didn’t sell in the first place, and only sold now because the girl wants to be close to the boy. The house she bought in Nashville was a better buy.

Deets August 17, 2012 at 9:32 am

If she were any other wealthy 22yo who’d bought a house to be closer to the 18yo she started dating mere months ago, she’d be considered a creepy stalker.

If this was a 22yo guy who’d bought a house to be closer to the 18yo he started dating mere months ago, he’d be considered a creepy stalker.

CeCe August 19, 2012 at 1:18 pm

So true! Good points.

Christina from Dallas August 17, 2012 at 9:34 am

I hate to say this but if a girl buys a house close to yours when you just starting dating dosen’t that seem a bit desperate?

Fern August 17, 2012 at 11:49 am

crawford dayne August 17, 2012 at 9:44 am

Your information like all the other press reports is completely false.

The house is still on the market and was never sold!

hookedonhouses August 17, 2012 at 10:14 am

Really? You never know with celeb gossip like this, so you might be right. The listing was taken down, though, which is why it was so hard to find photos, and the news was confirmed by a local real estate agent to People magazine that she purchased it. Guess time will tell!

crawford dayne August 17, 2012 at 10:27 am

People Magazine, yes yes, the pillar of ethnical and accurate journalism!
They are about as reliable as the National Enquirer of The Daily Mail!

This is just another example of the press running with something no one was able to definitively confirm. A local real estate broker, come on!

I assure you its not been bought by her, perhaps by someone else! If she did buy it why is’nt she staying in it? Hmmmm.

Unless they show you a property title transfer from the local town clerk, this story will prove to be complete fiction!

Be the first to question the accuracy of this complete snow job, instead of following the nonsense reported by the starved rodents scrambling for anything to report even if its false! It’s just an excuse to write something Taylor and something Kennedy!

Shabby Chick August 17, 2012 at 11:10 am

Wow – cranky much? What a creep you are to come here and attack Julia about something so trivial! Get a life….

65andcounting August 17, 2012 at 11:12 am

I don’t think Crawford is attacking Julia. Not at all. He/she is merely saying everyone has been duped if the story is false.

crawford dayne August 17, 2012 at 4:42 pm

I am certainly not attacking anyone, just trying to give Julia the facts. Certainly nothing personal. Wow!

65andcounting August 17, 2012 at 11:11 am

If Crawford is right, every media outlet is going to have egg on their face. It’s written as fact by almost everyone. Google “Taylor Swift buys house on Cape” and see all the links.

I HOPE Crawford is right. This purchase is crazy on a million levels and I can’t imagine how her family (or money managers) would approve.

bob August 17, 2012 at 1:20 pm

Last week the Boston Globe said it was bought by a hedge fund investor from NY

crawford dayne August 17, 2012 at 4:44 pm

And I know I am right!
And the dumb press who play follow the first morin will definitely have egg on their collective faces!

Mimi August 17, 2012 at 5:14 pm

Okay! You probably are right. Bully for you! But, you know, what? That property is still one fabulous piece of real estate with a view far and beyond its fixer-upper aspect. Who cares whether Minnie and Mickey are moving in or, indeed, Taylor Swift?! It’s about the house, you noodle!

Shannon August 17, 2012 at 4:47 pm

Mimi August 17, 2012 at 5:06 pm

Thanks, Shannon! I was having a spot of trouble finding this one in the dictionary.

Mrs. Daniels August 17, 2012 at 5:37 pm

Don’t discount the National Enquirer too much as they were the first to out the John Edwards affair.

Shabby Chick August 17, 2012 at 6:09 pm

Sorry CD, but every one of your posts make you sound like a know it all. Forgive me if I’m wrong…. ;)

missy August 17, 2012 at 6:09 pm

What’s your deal, Crawford? Your posts are just as bad as Taylor Swift buying a house next to the Kennedys. We are all just looking at pictures that MANY news outlets have reported as being bought by Ms. Swift. It’s not like we are all trying to go there and stalk her and her boyfriend or anything. It’s not like reading this story is something of national security. It’s not like because we read this story we are going to go out and decide who to vote for for President!! CALM DOWN! Are you a Kennedy or something?!?

Crawford Dayne August 17, 2012 at 9:20 pm

I will say I thnk it’s a beautiful house and every time I see it I wish I had the money to buy it. Is it worth whatever ws pod for it, if it was in fact sold, well, if I had the dough, you bet. There is nothing like it, it’s charming, on the water and in a part of the Cape that is very special. There is no price one can put on something like that.

But sadly even today it remains vacant and unused and in the middle of the summer that’s kind of strange.

Michele August 17, 2012 at 9:46 am

Overall it needs updating, but I like the bedrooms and I’m obsessed with the spiral staircase room. The views are stunning.

Nica August 17, 2012 at 10:26 am

Ah … to be young, rich, and impulsive. Hope it works out. Either the relationship or the resale of the house.

Patty August 17, 2012 at 10:29 am

What a cute place. Definitely needs some updating, no matter who is living there.

Spring August 17, 2012 at 10:51 am

Wow, she got a real deal on that house. It’ll be beautiful when it’s updated. Though… dating a high school senior and buying the house next door smacks of a Lifetime crazy girlfriend story.

Shabby Chick August 17, 2012 at 10:58 am

*swoon* CAPE COD!!!!! I die. As a side note, I’ve read nearly every book ever written about the Kennedy’s… ;)

Lisa August 17, 2012 at 11:00 am

Actually if this was a 22 year old guy with an 18 year old girl, especially in Hollywood, nobody would bat an eye. We think nothing of seeing older men and younger women. When the roles are reversed, it makes people squirmy….. myself included. Look at the heat Demi got for Ashton being 15 years younger. We’re more comfortable when the guy is older. It’s just how it is. Though this pair, while very strange, is an interesting twist on what we usually see in Hollywood: the 22 year old girl with the 45 year old guy. So that’s why it’s so jarring.
I do find it strange that she’d want to date a guy that young when surely there are guys her age or a little older lining up to date her. She strikes me as being very awkward and naive though and probably tries too hard to keep a guy which only drives them further away.

The house…………. looks like it’s seen better days. I had to LOL at the asking 14 million price, sold at 4.9mil. Quite a fall. The house seems like something for an older married couple, not a young girl. It looks like it was last updated in the early 80s. As big as it is, it still has a stuffy feel. I’d much prefer an open floor plan 2000 square foot cottagey type beach house with that view than this.

I wish them the best, but yikes, I don’t see this ending well.

Fern August 17, 2012 at 11:48 am

hmmmmm…i really thought it was a tabloid lie when i read she had bought a house right next to the kennedys after dating one of them (he’s been 18 years old for 5 minutes) for a week. I’m seriously wondering if it isn’t she who has the emotional issues with all the men she dates. I thought they were all just jerks. But it’s obvious she falls in love by looking at someone and i guess if they actually speak to her she expects to walk down the aisle. And please don’t defend it by saying she’s only 22. At 22 i was a recent college grad working at a law firm in Washington, DC and trying my best not to be as idiotic as my peers who were having all kinds of relationship drama. Well, i guess life is all about learning. Though she doesnt seem to be retaining a lot.

Mimi August 17, 2012 at 11:56 am

I really thought this was a website for house lovers. If all of this ad nauseum drama continues, I believe I will be proven wrong.

Shabby Chick August 17, 2012 at 2:45 pm

People today think 22 is so young, it’s crazy. At 22 I had been married for 4 years and was pregnant with my 3rd child. Nearly 20 years later (I’m 37 now) we’re still going strong! Back in my grandma’s day girls got married anywhere from age 15 to right out of high school, they started families and stayed married til death. Just sayin’…. ;)

Lisa August 17, 2012 at 12:46 pm

Mimi this is absolutely a site for house lovers. But it makes it all the more fun, imo, when we can comment on the person who is living in the house, especially if they are a celebrity.
I have to comment on the price tag of this house again. How do these people get these numbers? Don’t they do some type of assessment of the area and what recently sold homes went for when they determine their price? Kind of like us middle class folk do?
And why don’t they think to do some kind of updating or staging? I would think the realtor for this house would have said for the love of granite update these countertops!

Julie B. August 17, 2012 at 12:50 pm

Instead of bashing Taylor and Conor (yes, he’s young, but he’s legal, and she’s only 22), I’d rather focus on the house…I just want to say, that house is SO Cape Cod, so beautiful, and if I had her money I’d buy it too. I hope she enjoys it, with or without the relationship!

Mimi August 17, 2012 at 3:25 pm

Yes! That’s the spirit! Thank you!

Erin August 17, 2012 at 1:00 pm

I love the older qualities of this house that make it, although huge, somewhat cozy. The interiors are obviously dated (and that kitchen looks like it doesn’t even belong to the same house), but the location on the water is prime. Regardless of the relationship drama, it is probably a great investment. Once updated, the area can bring a much higher sales price. Cape Cod will never go out-of-style, and the demand for the few water-front estates will always be high!

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints August 17, 2012 at 1:10 pm

Screams stalker to me…just sayin’;)

Mrs. Daniels August 17, 2012 at 5:39 pm

If it walks like a duck and quack like a duck…it’s a duck…or stalker in this case.

Sandra Cardona August 17, 2012 at 1:17 pm

I love the views. It does need updating though. I apologize to the purists out there. It’s a 1928 and at 4.9 mil if she needs to sell it in the future she will make a nice profit with a little updating in the kitchen and refurbishing the wood work. It’s needs some minimalist Cape Cod furniture and a little whitewash imo. On her dating choice I think she is young and she’s just entitled to make mistakes in matters of romance. She probably is sour on older men anyway since she’s been burned by players like John Mayer. I mean 22, really, it’s not that old from 18 in mental maturity. Also, 18 in Kennedy years is more like 27. They don’t live the lives of normal people, simple folk, etc. He probably charmed her over his stories of his first state dinner at the White House or his summers in Cote d’Azur. The truth is she has money and she can legally do what she wants with it, including buy a 4.9 mil house. It’s the money that makes the relationship dangerous, more than the age difference. Mom and Dad are probably wringing their hands but what can they do? Their 22 yr old little girl has more money than they have in their combined retirement accounts. I hope she does remodel and we can see those photos too. And when they break up she can sell it for the original 14 mil asking price.

Stephanie Durdan August 17, 2012 at 1:40 pm

Wow, that house is seriously dated! Whoever bought it will have a lot of fun updating it!

Crawford Dayne August 17, 2012 at 10:10 pm

Let’s hope not!

laurie December 30, 2012 at 7:11 pm

why would you have to update it,most of cape cod homes have generations of charm and beauty . thats what attreacts millions ot cape cod homes.along with the clean air,non city environment, charming streets and shops and clean gorgeous beaches.no factories aloud here.peaceful beautiful place to live with one of a kind history.By the way the house she bought was a guest house the Kennedy family owned right next to thier compound.half hour from my house.

Lauren August 17, 2012 at 1:57 pm

Wow, I’d love to see it after she has it decorated. It just doesn’t seem like the style of a young pop star right now. It looks pretty amazing though!

Kim August 17, 2012 at 3:16 pm

You’re Welcome! I love the views and my favorite room of the whole house is the one with the spiral staircase. As for the rest of the house, it needs a lot of updating, but that can be easily done.

Lezlee August 17, 2012 at 5:50 pm

LOVE the house – but what is up with the kitchen?? They totally missed the mark with that one – doesn’t even come close to fitting in with the rest of the house . .. .Taylor Swift comes across, to me anyway, as a young woman just in love with life – good for her!

bob August 17, 2012 at 6:19 pm

Except for being so close to the Kennedy’s, it’s a nice house and has a nice view.

Rebecca C. August 17, 2012 at 8:05 pm

I bet she saw it as an investment and will fix it up to sell. Prime property. Good bones.

diana August 17, 2012 at 8:27 pm

Wow Julia … we are hooked on this post!
IMO anything in New England with water views is right up my alley.. this house has a lovely breezy feel to it… great size.. not too big. I hope she loves it and makes it hers with some updates… and I agree… great investment.

Susan August 18, 2012 at 10:13 am

Thanks Julia for the pics. It’s obviously something everyone wanted to talk about. The house will be beautiful when Taylor gets done with it. Keep more houses coming our way. Your blog is terrific and we obviously read it.

AJ August 18, 2012 at 6:50 pm

I would be happy as a lark in this house, but then again I am much older than Taylor Swift.

Taylor usually seems desperate to me to be in love and have a boyfriend and I believe a hit song about this relationship will be on the charts in the near future…

Emma August 18, 2012 at 7:34 pm

Love the house! Love your blog!
But how do I get rid of the adds that are popping up and covering your posts?

hookedonhouses August 18, 2012 at 8:04 pm

Well, that shouldn’t be happening. I had a problem with it a couple months ago and they supposedly fixed it. I haven’t seen the ads doing that since, but it worries me that you are. What browser are you using, Emma?

Screendoorgirl 3 August 18, 2012 at 7:45 pm

I can not even imagine what it’s like to have that kind of money. I love Taylor, but it’s just such a different world..celebrities. She seems to have a good head about her. The house is kind of dated, but who cares with those views. Fun post! Thanks, Julia.

June August 18, 2012 at 9:27 pm

Hmmmmm . . . Looks a little Grey Gardens to me.

Tracie August 18, 2012 at 11:55 pm

Nice house/creepy situation. ….IF they are actually a couple….maybe they’re just friends. I’d love to have this house.

theSavvySeeker August 20, 2012 at 9:10 am

Whoa. All I can say is Whoa. The house is pretty amazing and definitely a compound….nothing understated or cottage-like about that place. Not sure if it was the best move for Taylor…since her beau is so young…buying a place next door to the Kennedy stomping grounds…seems a little impulsive.

Marie August 20, 2012 at 10:51 am

Looks like a great home to feed her artist soul! Hopefully some great songs will be written here.

Jane August 20, 2012 at 12:19 pm

I think there was a reason Jacqueline Kennedy kept a close but loving eye on her children, Caroline and John, and kept a certain respectful distance from the rest of the Kenmedys. Perhaps that is why her children always seemed to be more centered than the rest of the clan. And yes…her son did die in a plane crash which left questions but neither both children seemed to have a certain sense of decorum which I credit to their mother.

And while I agree with those who noted we don’t really know celebrities I would certainly be trying to dissuade my daughter from buying a home next to someone she is only dating!

Mimi August 20, 2012 at 12:44 pm

Eloquently, elegantly, and diplomatically expressed. Thank you for helping to renew my faith in the art of intelligent repartee and candid but dignified expression of opinion.

Christina from Dallas August 20, 2012 at 8:13 pm

Wow these posts are taking an interesting turn! Some of us like a little celebrity gossip but let’s be nice to each other. We all love houses.

I don’t care who bought it or who they are dating, it’s just a nice house. Love the wood beams but hate the kitchen. Needs a little bit of updating, hope whomever purchased it keeps with the same feel. I’m one of those that likes to keep true to the era or spirit of a house.
The view is the best thing about it. This house has a lot of potential.

Great house! Wonder if she will regret buying it in a few years. Romances are so fleeting. Must be pretty serious though if she’s buying a house so close. Thanks for the tour, Julia!

The Cape Cod Times is reporting today that it was not Taylor Swift who bought the house next to the Kennedy compund.

Interesting! I’ve been watching to see if there would be any kind of retraction to the story but hadn’t seen this yet. Thanks, Donna!

Or a retraction, which one never sees when the gossip news sites make blunders.
The transfer of title would be the only confirmation one could expect because I would not hold our collective breaths waiting for a statement from the Swifties!

Since you told me it wasn’t true, I’ve been searching for confirmation. I think we’re all a little relieved she didn’t buy this house after all. :-)

I love this house (sans the kitchen – needs a re-do) and think Taylor Swift is a darling girl … but doesn’t this seem a little like stalking? Start dating a young man then buy the house next door … yikes!

Well I just came back to this story and saw that it says Taylor Swift didn’t buy it. I guess Crawford was right all along.

The house if very cute but WTF happened to the Kitchen? The solo ceiling beam and red laminate countertops have to go.

I hope no one thinks I was calling anyone a moron.
I think it’s easy for people to forget, what with how intimate and detailed our celebrity news is these days, that we don’t know these people and don’t really know about their lives or their personalities or their morals, let alone their house buying choices. I know Americans feel like we know our Kennedys, and Taylor Swift seems like an open book, but they are strangers to us and the press feeds on us feeling otherwise.
Although I’m perfectly willing to talk smack about John Mayer.
The house has stunning views, obviously, and I’m a bit nostalgic about it not having been updated. It feels like the house you would have visited your Massachusetts grandma in when you were a kid, if your Massachusetts grandparents were rich. I’d love to see a deck appropriate to the age of the house added on to the back side of the house, shown in that first picture. That space looks kinda lonesome.
