That’s kinda sad about the house in Illinois. You would think someone would be checking on a house worth that much a little more often. And why on earth wasn’t the heat on to keep the pipes from freezing? Like my Dad used to say – “A fool and his money are soon parted.”
And thanks for the link about gallery walls. I’m just thinking about doing this on my stairwell and there’s some great tips there!

Cute interview! I got some good tips I will definitely have to put into practice. I admire how much time and effort goes into your site so you deserve all the attention you can get. I especially love hearing about people quitting their day job and blogging full time. I can’t think of a better job :)

The coral wall gallery is gorgeous….thanks for sharing… Am I the only one who thinks that Rachel Zoe needs to eat a few cupcakes?

G’day Julia, such a great roundup as always, yes I do think Zoe could use some calm and a cupcake too, hopefully that baby will do the trick! We’ll see . . . . thanks for the shout out on my Alma Project! Just yesterday we were shopping for stock cabinetry at Lowes to build a decent laundry area.
Have a wonderful weekend friend,

Hi from France! Wonderful Elvis’ house: I’d love to live in it, it’s so clear and clean! I usually prefer cosy places but I’d easily go for the modern in that one. Thank you and good week end.
PS: And I’d love to dive into Rachel Zoe’s closet especially for the shoes!

Can you even imagine what it will cost to repair the water damage in that Illinois mansion?? I wonder if it will end up under the wrecking ball? Dear friends of mine returned from vacation last year to find their foyer ceiling on the floor, and as they went room to room, discovered that a broken pipe in their attic had flooded the entire house. They spent six months making repairs…ultimately having to replace all the sheetrock, flooring, and wiring in the entire place.

Thanks so much for the fabulous assortment of weekend reading, Julia!

Elvis’ house is / was beautiful … gosh, imagine being a guest at a party there back in the day … it would have been FABulous!

Scary about the house in Illinois … as someone above said, you’d think someone – be it an agent or security firm – would be keeping an eye on it on a regular basis.

I love Rachel Zoe’s house … it’s minimalist without lacking in personality IMO.

Have a fabulous weekend! :)

I recently saw the company on an edition of PBS’s This Old House. Terrific antique building materials!

Julia really great links!! That Realtor in Ilinois should have been checking on that property weekly ( or his or her assistant) That is such a shame

I love your interview at Sarah’s….. Great!
