It’s time for another Real Estate Sampler! Here are 7 listings that caught my eye…
1. Tom Cruise Selling “Beloved Mountain Retreat” in Colorado
Remember when Oprah interviewed Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes at their secluded Telluride cabin back in 2008?
Now that they’re divorced, his rep says he doesn’t spend much time there any more, so he’s selling the nearly 300-acre property for a cool $59 mill.
The porches on this wonderful old house in Larchmont, New York, stopped me in my tracks. Better still, according to the listing, they offer “spectacular water views.” It was built in 1893 but has been so thoroughly updated inside that it doesn’t really show its age.
This “castle” in Woodstock has over 22,000 square feet, sits on over 75 acres, and is on the market for $45 million. All I can say is…wow. And have you ever seen a kitchen quite like this? Think that’s a giant spice rack in the middle or what?
A reader named Lynn writes that she’s selling her lovely old home in Warrenton, VA: “The original portion of the house was built in the 1820s as a toll road keeper’s residence. The addition was built in 1873 by a Louisiana judge for his summer home. There is a cottage that goes with the property that was completely renovated about three years ago.”
It would be hard to drive past this house without hitting the brakes. The listing says, “Grand double parlors, elegant wainscoting, 12 working fireplaces, hardwood floors, and updated gourmet kitchen. Fourteen-foot ceilings on first floor.”
This wonderful old house in Gloucester sits on 2+ acres on the water and is surrounded by a conservation easement. The listing says, “Nestled within the historic Toddsbury Plantation (1669), it features lovely heart pine floors, original iron and brass fittings, multiple fireplaces, and river views.”
The listing says, “Quintessential Victorian Queen Anne architecture in this meticulously reincarnated and painstakingly restored historical Seattle landmark. A home of extraordinary grandeur featuring soaring ceilings, original period fixtures & craftsmanship with unparalleled panoramic views of Lake Washington, Bellevue and the Cascades.”
Got a favorite? Thanks to all the readers who submitted them. I love seeing the kinds of houses that are on the market where you guys live! 🙂
