Trisha Yearwood is not only a Grammy-winning country music artist — she’s also a best-selling cookbook author with a show called Trisha’s Southern Kitchen on the Food Network. And oh, yeah, she’s married to Garth Brooks, who you may have heard of, too. She’s selling her house in Tennessee, so here’s your chance to cook your own meals in her famous kitchen.
The listing says, “An Americana Beauty loaded with history and celebrity. TV famous kitchen opens to the pool. Custom Millwork, High Ceilings and Charm! Countryside paradise in city!”
Although it looks fairly humble from the outside, it has 6 bedrooms and a whopping 6,500 square feet. I didn’t expect that.
I would have guessed it was a newer home, but it was built in 1920. It’s clearly had some work done over the years.
Zillow reports: “The charming white house has been the setting for the Grammy winner’s Food Network TV show, Trisha’s Southern Kitchen, where she cooked up dishes like ‘unfried’ chicken and tortilla casserole on the granite countertops. Yearwood, a Georgia native, has published three cookbooks.”
She bought the house in 2000 before she was married to Garth Brooks. The celebrity couple owns another home in Oklahoma, but The Tennessean reports they’re planning to move their home base to Nashville.
I found this photo of Trisha in her kitchen on The Food Network:
So I was surprised by how different it looks in the listing photos:
It seems to have gotten a “gray-over” at some point, unless it’s an effect of the lighting and photo editing. The light fixtures over the island have been swapped out for more contemporary ones. And in the photo below you can see that the island has been painted:
Do you watch her show on the Food Network? Do you recognize the kitchen? I’ve seen a few episodes, but it looked different to me. Maybe they weren’t all taped here?
She’s on tour this year and plans to film new episodes of her cooking show this summer. She says she’s talking to the Food Network about taping it “on the go” as she travels.
“The Food Network has been wonderful,” she told The Tennessean. “I’m like, ‘I want to keep doing it because I’m loving it, but my life is getting ready to change. If you can figure out a way to change with me, then we can figure out what this is going to be.’ They’re totally open to suggestions. I’m not sure what it’s going to be yet, but I think it’s doable.”
Looks like most of the rooms have been pretty much stripped bare of whatever personality they had before and staged to sell.
The Brentwood home is listed for $2.2 million and sits on over 4 acres. Want it? Check the listing for more photos and information.
My favorite thing about it may be the front of the house. I’m a sucker for white houses with porches like this. Does anyone else think it would be fun to decorate the rooms inside the house to “match” that first impression?
