Eddie Murphy’s $20 Million Estate in California

NOTE: This post was originally part of our series of Guessing Games.

When I ran across this picture on TMZ.com, I assumed it was some sort of fabulous luxury resort. But no–it’s just a modest single-family home built for a well-known celebrity for $20 million.

Can you guess who lives here? These are your clues:

1) The zip code is 90210. (But no, it’s not Brenda and Brandon Walsh.)

2) The homeowner sings, dances, acts, and provides the voice of a popular cartoon animal.

3) He dumped his pregnant girlfriend last year, claiming the baby wasn’t his (but, whaddaya know, it turns out it was–I wonder if Montel Williams broke the news?).

It’s Eddie Murphy! Did you guess? If not, then you must not spend as much time reading gossip mags and tabloidy websites as the rest of us.

Anyone who has kids knows Murphy was the talking donkey in “Shrek.”

The girlfriend he dumped was Mel B. (”Scary Spice”), who went on to shed her baby weight by tearing up the dance floor on “Dancing with the Stars.”

He was in the tabs again recently when he and girlfriend Tracey Edmonds held an “unofficial wedding ceremony” on New Year’s Day in Bora Bora. . .and then broke up 14 days later before an “official wedding ceremony” could cement the deal.

If you had a house this big, what would you fill it with? Any ideas? I imagine all of his exes could still be living there and he wouldn’t even know it.

I’m tempted to ask whether this place is large enough to hold his ego, but that would be mean. So forget I said anything.

I can’t imagine living in a house this big. I’m trying, but I just can’t.

Me either, Maya. I tend to be sort of a minimalist, so all of my belongings would fit in one corner of that massive place and the rest would be empty!

    Too funny, and probably true!

I cannot imagine living in a house like that. I wouldn’t want to, truthfully.

Sorry, couldn’t let this one slip by. The answer is definitely…NO. But then, you already knew that, right? LOL!

I think you guys have lost your minds! I would LOVE to live in this fabuluos house! If I could afford to live in this house, you know I have every room decorated to the nines!!! But my question is, why in the world does he need a house this big? If I had it I would stash each of my 3 kids in separate wings & finally get some peace and quiet!

must be a lonely man no wife, girlfriend or anyone to share all that with so sad… I’m not impressed

Even if I had his money, I wouldn’t have a house that big….unless I was going to house 350 people. Just crazy! But I agree, he may ‘need’ a house that big to store his ego.

I have actually been in this house and it is over 30,000 sq ft and the designer said that the total cost including furniture and art was about $50 Million.
