i love the storybook tudor in atlanta
The home in Fort Worth is my favorite, inside and out.
I’d love to know if showcasing the homes here ever translates into a sale from a reader.
Me, too!
Me too
It wasn’t a direct translation but after my house was showcased here our popularity spiked on trulia and zillow keeping us in the top ten listings in our zip code for the length of the listing. Ultimately two different people who had obviously been watching the property online from the beginning came back and made offers. So I would say it definitely helped raise our online popularity and may have even encouraged some people off the fence.
Thanks again Julia!
That’s great to hear. Thanks, Elizabeth!
My first choice is the house in Texas. But, I have to say that I wouldn’t mind living in Summerville, SC!
Love the tudor – I’d take it for the tiled bathrooms alone. The Mediterranean is also very nice, with a lot more character than I was expecting, but – cha-ching!
This is the best of the bunch yet! I love each house. I love the ones which have the big porches you can sit outside. I love the bright yellow on the outside of the first one too. The last house description by the realtor reads like a romance novel. If his real estate career does not pan out, he could write books!
If I want to go big, it’s #7 in Texas. Hat’s off to the designer of the online listing…it’s excellent! Great pictures and info.
If I were actually being practical for myself, it’s #2 in Fort Worth. Is that a sleeping porch?
Even though retro bathrooms and kitchens are desired, they are not desired by me. Been there done that. I want new updated kitchens and baths. However, I do love the details older homes have….just not the baths and kitchens, LOL!
Good luck to the owners of all of these lovely homes!
They are all lovely houses! Just thrilling to peek inside people’s homes! I actually like the brick rancher in Charlotte – something very homey and appealing about it!
I absolutely love the outside of the Tudor in Georgia. But the porch and the interior of the Texas home sold me on that one!
I like the yellow house in SC. It just looks like a sweet, family house. Bright and cheerful inside and out.
I can never resist a yellow house!
The Tudor is my favorite. I love all of the details and the history.
I love that they didn’t rip out all that beautiful tile in the Tudor!!
Why do so many people do that??
I know–it’s gorgeous!
I love the summer and winter pictures of the first one. What I don’t get, and I’ve seen it in other “high end” listings is why they include a picture of a flower. Even if it’s blooming in their garden, who cares?
oops, didn’t mean to comment here but oh well!
I love the Charlotte house and the one in South Carolina. They are all lovely though.
Looking at these photos I started wondering (as an ignorant foreigner), that is displaying the flag a way to attract buyers in the U.S., or is it really common to just keep it up every day? I mean, the flag was visible in three houses out of seven, so it can’t be a random happenstance…
Here in Finland it’s rather strictly regulated when and how you can display the flag, so it’s not very common to see it in everyday photos – that’s why it caught my attention here, too.
It’s actually pretty common here to display the American flag, especially during summer months close to our 4th of July Independence Day holiday. Interesting that it’s different in Finland. I hadn’t noticed that 3 out of the 7 had them in the photos. Thanks for pointing that out, Tiina!
I figured it could have something to do with 4th of July, at least in these photos. Thanks for the explanation.
We also have strict regulations–but, there is no real enforcement of them. Basically we are expected to display the flag respectfully, to display it higher than other flags (with some exceptions), to light it at night or take it down at night, to not let it get worn or storm battered, and to properly dispose of a flag past its lifecycle (the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and certain organizations are authorized to properly burn and dispose of such flags). Oh, and also, Spring and Summer feature several patriotic holidays, so we see more flags during those months than others.
Now that sounds more familiar! I don’t think anyone really enforces it in Finland either (except for nosy neighbours
), but I guess we’re content with seeing the flag on holidays, and that’s it… I don’t know. But it’s really interesting to know about these different customs.
I love the mediterranean in LA. The garden looks fabulous!
yes, that is a fabulous garden
Love the garden! It’s a lovely home and second in my list of favorites here.
I vote for the last Texas house.
Well, anyone who knows me would have guessed my favorite–the Tudor. I absolutely adore that style of house, and love the fresh kick they’ve given the decor. The Ft. Worth house seems so familiar to me…do you know if its been featured somewhere else before?
Good memory, Brandon! I actually featured it in a March reader-roundup post but totally forgot I had already posted it! Oops. I get a lot of reader submissions and apparently need to keep them organized more efficiently in the future. Ha. I like that house so much, though, it’s worth a second look.
I was wondering where I had seen that house before! I read a lot of blogs at night though so I figured it must belong to a blogger who was now moving! Too funny.
That Tudor in Atlanta is very nice. Of course I’m super bias I love Tudor Style and I live in Atlanta. The fenced in back yard is a bonus. I’d be tempted to buy for the rose bushes alone. The downside is that the kitchen is tiny.
My first reaction was the yellow house being my favorite. But after reading about and seeing pics of the Tudor….THAT is definitely my favorite. How charming and looks move in ready!!
Julia – I just wanted to stop in and say how great it was to meet you at Haven. I enjoyed going to dinner with you both nights, too. Your advertising session was AHMAZING! I hope to implement some of that into my blog soon. Thank you for taking the time to share with us your wisdom and experience. Hope to see you again at the next conference. Regards, Barb
It was so much fun hanging out with you, Barb, and hearing all your great stories. Wish we’d had more time to talk. See you next year!!
Advertising session! I wish I had known. Please share some of those pointers on your blog!
They are all lovely homes, but for pure charm, the Tudor in Atlanta wins hands down.
Julia,
Yet again your readers have the best houses! If only I was looking to buy…and had a money tree–I might just buy them all! The house in Parker, TX is my favorite. But, they are all eye candy. Love it!
i wish i had a reason to move to Charlotte or Fort Worth or Atlanta as they are my faves!
If I could stand that Texas heat I would be moving to Parker tomorrow! What a great house!
ditto!
#7 in Texas, although I’m accustomed to mid-Atlantic greenery and perennial flower beds. What’s interesting is how much the decor and color scheme can be a real deal breaker.
I have to go with the tudor. Interesting to see the sizes and prices of each of them. a great post!
I love house #7, it’s beautiful inside and out. I couldn’t live in Texas though, because of the heat.
My favorite is the “Traditional Southern Home in Texas”. It was beautiful, welcoming and exudes southern charm and hospitality. Loved it!
Wow, that Tudor in Atlanta is quite a good price – what a nice starter home that would be (a bit small for a family, but quite charming).
You can tell someone with taste and style lives there – it is well put together!
- Holly
$629,000 for a starter home?!! Yes, it’s more of a charming cottage size. Yes, it’s in a great neighborhood. Yes, it’s lovely and well done. But the price of $629,000 is hardly a starter home price, not in my world, anyway. No, I don’t live in Atlanta, but my nieces and nephews do, and though they have good jobs and very young families they couldn’t begin to afford this, much less come up with a down payment for a house at that price. Few young couples are so privileged. Holly, you live in a different world than most of us.
Carolyn I live here in Atlanta and I get where you’re coming from. The Tudor is in one of the more expensive and chic neighborhoods in Atlanta, and the price tag reflects that. But, Atlanta is still a cheap city to live in compared to others. Someone from New York or LA would think that the $629,000 price tag was definitely in starter home range.
As I scrolled through for a quick glance through before clicking the links for a closer look, my immediate thought on #5 was “oh, that looks Australian”, and so it was. Can’t say what it is about them when I see them, but there’s definitely something that makes them stand out as not being American, for some reason. I think it was more about the light, trees and shadows in this particular instance. (I’m Australian, by the way). I like #4 the best.
Atlanta and Charlotte; I love the homeyness and charm of them both:)
Thanks Julia
I love the Tudor, hands down. I had to laugh when I saw the tile. Our house built in 1928 has the same yellow and black tile, and, like the owner here, I’ve tried to keep an updated vintage look and stay true to the original style of the house.
Thanks so much for the feature!! We’re under contract and hoping all appraisals/inspections go well! Can’t wait to start decorating the next one!
**and thanks for all the sweet comments about our home! You’re readers are so nice!
Hooray! I’m so happy for you Katy. Crossing my fingers that everything goes smoothly for you with the sale!
I love the darling storybook Tudor, but the price will never be in my range! After looking at all of them, I have to say that the yellow SC house or the darling little ranch in NC speak to me the most. I must be a simple girl of modest taste! Thanks for showing these to us- so fun!
Julia,
Thanks for featuring our beautiful yellow house in South Carolina (#4). We have truly loved living here in Charleston and being so close to the beaches doesn’t hurt. The house is still for sale, but after being featured on The Today Show on May 25th for Amazing Homes under $250K and showcased on your blog, interest has really picked up! You can see the feature here: http://video.today.msnbc.msn.com/today/47565055
To answer the question about the flag, we are a military family and every duty station we have lived, we have flown the American Flag with pride! Thanks again and I look forward to continuing to be “Hooked On Houses”
Special thanks to my amazing realtors at The Meyer/Potts Team and Listings in Motion for the fablous photos!

Thanks for the additional info, Angie!
They are all nice homes but my favorite is the Texas house. I love the grounds, the pool, the landscaping, the porches. The inside is beautiful too. Too much money though.
hands down the TUDOR- it’s perfect!
I love the Tudor its awesome
