Beach House of the Day: Moreton Bay

by hookedonhouses on June 11, 2010

Queensland Beach House ext

It’s almost the weekend, and this beach house in Queensland (Australia) looks like the perfect place to spend it. The listing says it overlooks “the glistening waters of Moreton Bay with panoramic uninterrupted views to the distant islands.”

front door

There are also promises of “glorious sunsets every evening and a sandy beach just a stone’s throw from your back garden, perfect if you love swimming in the sea and taking long walks.” (Why, yes! As a matter of fact, I do love the sea and taking walks beside it.)

Besides the fabulous location and view, I love their use of color in the house. The turquoise-painted trim and shutters are perfect for a beach house.

It says “price negotiable,” but I have a feeling my idea of a negotiable price and theirs is very different.

You can see all the photos and read more about this beach house on the listing. (Thanks to Kathryn for the link!)

Oh, I would love to spend some time in that house – on the balcony with a cold beverage – watching the waves come in! Love the turquoise trim!

I love the color used as an accent rather than the primary focus of the rooms. White walls and bright trim has never looked so good!

Hi everyone! Ya know, this house is beautiful and no doubt the views will take your breathe away. I’m a white lover and even I think it’s wonderful. The turq shutters are my favorite! But, what I love the most about this place is that it is no doubt a “home”. You can really see how much of the people who live there love this house.Just tons of personality! <3 Donna

Hi Julia! I would definitely be excited if that was my vacation destination!!! I don’t think I would chose such bright trim on the interior of my own house … but a vacation house???? Bring IT ON!!!! LoVe the furniture too – what FUN!

And then there is that turquoise again, huh? :)

Oh my word. I can’t properly express my love for this fantastic house because I am too busy swooning over all the turquoise woodwork!!! So beautiful. It doesn’t hurt that the view through those turquoise windows and doors is water which appears to be about the same shade. Yes, please. When can I move in?

What a view..I’m all about the view. Seriously, I could live in a sweet little house if my view made up for it.

This is exactly why I love your blog, because when you have posts like this I get to drift away and live someplace fabulous for a day. Secondly because you’re such a great fount of information concerning anything house related … and …. you’re a really nice person …. and… uh … ZZzzzzzz. HUH! Oh! excuse me I just fell asleep on my terrace overlooking the glistening waters of Moreton Bay.

24 Love Where You Live June 11, 2010 at 4:05 pm

I love seeing color in beach homes! It just seems right.
I remember my daughter flew into the Gold Coast (Australia) and called me pronto to say she was never coming back. Since that call (and, yes, she did return), I’ve wanted to visit. Now . . . really, really!

25 Kim June 11, 2010 at 4:05 pm

Wouldn’t mind love to have this for my vacation home. It would be a nice peaceful place to relax at if I needed to get away.

26 Jan from Rose Haven June 11, 2010 at 4:25 pm

I love the outdoor views…but the interior has too much color going on for me to find it a restful place. I, personally, could never live – or even vacation – here.

27 Kerri June 11, 2010 at 4:47 pm

This is gorgeous, and did you know the interiors are the work of our very own Queensland design diva, Anna Spiro? Of course, the colour may have given it away! Beautiful isn’t it, and I can confirm that Moreton Bay is as gorgeous as it looks! Nice to see it being featured, it’s a lovely part of the world. K xx

Kerri–
I had no idea this was Anna’s work, but now that you mention it, it makes sense. I love her style. Thanks! -Julia

29 Tricia Rose June 11, 2010 at 5:24 pm

“…if you love swimming in the sea and taking long walks” – who is going to say no!
I follow Anna Spiro, Kerri, I can see her hand in this house now, so splendidly unstuffy!
The closest I have been to Morton Bay is the famous Moreton Bay figs in Sydney parks, such fun for children to play in.

Thank you Julia for this mental holiday !
