The Purple Victorian on Lane’s End Farm

by hookedonhouses on June 18, 2008

Lane’s End Farm has been a familiar sight in the small town of Loveland, Ohio, since the 1860s, with its purple-painted Victorian farmhouse. People come from miles around to buy dried flowers and floral arrangements from the Browne family on their “flower farm.”

Now this house, gardens, barn, and carriage house that sit on 4 1/2 acres are on the market for $425,000. Let’s take a look around!

Master bath:

Here’s the carriage house that has served as the Lane’s End studio and retail shop:

I love peeking inside houses that are unusual and have a sense of history like this. I hope someone who loves gardening will buy it and continue the tradition of selling flowers to their neighbors!

You can check the MLS listing for more photos and information, or read an article about the house and see a slideshow of it at The Cincinnati Enquirer.

How sweet! The flowers are a bit much for me, but they are done well. I love the warm colors. Everything looks cozy instead of cramped. I love the shape of the breakfast bar, and the chandelier over the tub…
My favorite house so far!

I would love to have a back yard like that, including the carriage house!

the decor is very countrified, but overall, I love the whole place. Oh, the things I could do with that carriage house…

I’d have to change *a lot* on the inside and I can’t imagine having a purple house no matter how historic. But the garden is incredible. I’d buy it just for that.

I don’t think I saw what the land size was? Did you post it and I missed it? Just curious… I sell real estate in my
“spare” time… love to hear the house pricing from state to state… city to city.

I forgot to mention that it’s on 4 1/2 acres. I’ll edit the post to add that. Thanks, Fifi! -Julia

Loved the curved bar in the kitchen.

And the greenery at the foot of the bed.

I’ve always wanted to live in a house like that. Not sure purple is my “thang” but definitely the style.

Very nice piece of property! Not really a fan of the purple! They have a kind of odd sense about where furniture should be placed.

I’ve always wanted gardens! I like most of the interior – except for some of the wallpaper, window treatments, and ivy hanging around. :-) It’s looks very warm and cozy.

So cozy–even if it is all hunter green and all. :) What a great property to own!

What a charming home and I love all the colors both inside and out. I’d love to have a home like that. And that little building which houses the shop would make a perfect quilting studio for me!
