Dervla–I love The Gilmore Girls, too. I’m working on a post about it right now.
Tana–Funny Farm is one of my favorites. I read somewhere that it was filmed at a real house but haven’t had a chance to research it yet. I will write a post about it someday–possibly in December.
Thanks for the suggestions! -Julia

I’m working on a post about the real house in Home Alone right now–one of my favorites! -Julia
I just happened on your blog tonight, looing for the “real” house from Nights of Rodanthe. It makes my heart sing. I love old houses, especially Victorian era, but lately have been tugged by anything cottage. I drive my friends and family crazy when we’re watching movies and I’m commenting on the furniture layout or the wallpaper or blue willow dishes, most people don’t even pay attention to that. My favorite kitchen of all time is the one that Lauren Bacall is cooking in while John Wayne watches her. I can’t remember the name of the movie, maybe Rooster Cogburn? but even remodeled my kitchen in my 1906 Colonial Revival after it…white cabinets with T11 siding, pullout drawers with fake fronts to resemble old time store cabinets, all uppers with glass fronts, glass pulls and of course, lots of blue willow china to fill the cabinets. Thanks for your blog, I really have and will enjoy looking at all the homes.
I love the home from Steve Martin’s “Father of the Bride” movie. I am visiting your site for the first time and said “yes” to every one of your questions for if you are hooked on houses. My husband knows that one of the easiest ways to make me happy is to take the long way home, so I can see houses. I also have been known to redo bad real estate photos by adding shutters, and details to liven up the curb appeal just for fun.
I LOVE LOVE Lorelai’s place so much too!
LOVE your website!! I am addicted to houses, especially those on tv. I’m surprised you haven’t featured the house from Hope Floats. It’s a great house!
PJ–
It’s on my list of movies to cover. Only so many hours in a day, ya know! But eventually I’ll get to all of my favorites. -Julia
Great website!! I love the cottage in the 1995 version of the movie Sense and Sensibility . The one that the mother and the three daughters move into.
The house in the 1994 version of Little Women is great. It is supposed to be Orchard House is Concord , Ma. That is also a nice Christmas movie.
Another person was inquiring about the house in Funny Farm. That is in Grafton, Vermont.
Would love to see you do the San Francisco apartment in Just Like Heaven with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Rufallo. Loved they windows and especially the kitchen.

Love the website. I noticed someone above mentioned the Gilmore Girls, but I especially loved Richard & Emily’s pool house after it was redone for Rory . I’m hoping you’ll include pics of that when you do a Gilmore post!
Hi, Erin! I loved the pool house, too. I’m not sure I’ll have space for it in the post, though–it’s already getting to be really long! I haven’t decided what to do yet. I might have to break it up into two posts or something. -Julia
