Funny Real Estate Photo of the Week: A Kid-Friendly Kitchen

by hookedonhouses on May 10, 2011

This agent went out of his way to show you what a kid-friendly kitchen this Burleson, Texas, house has. This little boy clearly loves it, and so will your children. If that’s not enough to sell you on this place, there appears to be a Bath & Body Works store nearby…

(Thanks to Shannon for finding this listing. If you come across something unusual, send it to me!)

Oh, this is sooo cute!

Too funny! Notice at the listing the master bedroom bed is unmade and the Realtor took a picture of it…almost like a close up. Bedroom #2 is a mess as well. I would die if I had pics like that of my house on the market!

Wow! Go see the kitchens I’m posting today!

I can’t even say a word… but you know what… as long everybody is happy… why not? LOL ;-)

Have a great day!

cute house & a great price!! Love how the realtor highlighted the unmade bed rofl. I don’t mind the kids artwork, it’s cute but those bedrooms are a disaster!

Eeeew. This house isn’t even really in bad shape–but it’s gross! Pick up, people! Throw your junk in the dryer/washer, whatever, for the pictures at least. No one wants to imagine theirselves in your unmade bed, looking at your broken curtain rod.
Sorry. I think I came across a little harsh…

I don’t think you’re being harsh at all. If I was looking for a house and saw this listing, I wouldn’t bother going to see it.

I agree. You are trying to sell your house for Pete’s sake. The least you could do is make the beds. Nasty! Even if the Seller had no clue of how to present the property, the Agent should have. It is a cute home, but it is hard to see beyond the mess.

It wouldn’t have taken more than 10 mins. to make those beds and thrown some clutter in some laundry baskets and stash them behind a couch. What were the realtor and homeowner thinking?

Oh how I would love to get my hands on this sweet little house. I’d also like to get may hands (around the neck) of the agent that posted these pictures. Shame! SHAME!

I’ve seen houses like this in our MLS – lots of times they are short sales or getting ready to go into foreclosure and I think the owners just don’t care anymore – not a good excuse for living like that but another point of view.

That is one prolific artist! Messy for sure, but cute :)

Even if it’s a short sale or bankruptcy, the realtor should make an effort to temporarily clean the house for the pictures at least. However, I guess that’s not the realtor’s job and would be a huge, time-consuming undertaking.

It’s a difficult situation because it makes the job much harder for the realtor to sell the house when it is a mess but they can’t force the current residents to keep it clean and neat. Makes me glad that I’m not a realtor and don’t have to deal with that.

The little guy looks worried that someone is running around his house frantically taking pictures. What’s going on here anyway?????

I think this is the first time I have seen a kid’s room with the posters on the wall on an angle outside of a movie set.

this just makes me want to swoop down and take all the artwork off the cabinets and fridge and clean off the table…don’t RE people learn this in RE 101 how to sell a house..but then if this did..we wouldn’t get to comment on all the photos:)

Can you imagine deciding to go see that place? And all that tape on the kitchen cabinets. Ugh!

I love the addition of the second photo of the unmade bed. One just wasn’t enough! : )

Yikes! Looking at that picture makes me want to rip the pictures off. I’m guessing this home is owned by the bank. Still you think the homeowners would take the time to make it somewhat presentable. There’s no way anyone is going to want to buy the house with it looking like that.

Holley May 10, 2011 at 3:32 pm

At the very least, couldn’t the photographer have thrown the covers over the pillows so that it looked tidy?

Reply

Bre May 10, 2011 at 3:32 pm

haha! That is certainly a kid friendly house. I don’t think my mom would have ever left that fly. My artwork, though genius (lol), was reserved for the fridge only.

My kitchen looks exactly like this. I PROMISE I will take the drawings down before I get the pictures taken. They will all be scanned, then tossed.

And really, they couldn’t make the beds before taking the photos? Come on!

That is terrible! Plus it’s odd the child is in the pic. You would think for safety reasons, that wouldn’t be good.
