Cook-n-Dine Tables: Bringing Benihana Home

Look closely at this table. See that stainless-steel rectangle in the center? It’s a grill! No kidding. Now you can grill indoors with Cook-n-Dine’s series of flameless grill-tables.

All you need is an electrical outlet and you can cook anything you want on its stainless-steel surface. It’s like having one of those Benihana tables right in your own home! (Knife-wielding chef not included.)

The center of the table forms a shallow cooking pit and heats to 430 degrees. (In case you’re wondering, the outer ring of the table remains cold.) You cook right on the center surface area. Prices start at $2,135.00 forĀ the smallestĀ 20″ x 15″ unit (does not include the price of the tables they are built into) and there are a wide range of table sizes and styles to choose from.

I don’t know why, exactly, but the idea of grilling my food right there at the table where my guests are eating seems strange. Maybe I could learn that cool “onion volcano” trick they do at Benihana, though.

To tell you the truth, I’d rather just go to someone else’s house and watch them demonstrate their table grill! Any offers? I’m available on Saturday, especially if you can make steam shoot out of a stack of onion rings.

Just for fun:

Oh, me, too, Maya. I’m too absent-minded in the kitchen for something like this. When I cook, the water always boils over, the grilled cheese is black on one side, and I sometimes forget to use oven mitts with hot pans. This would be dangerous for me! :-)
