Hooked on Holiday House Tours: Party Time!

by hookedonhouses on December 10, 2009

dining room-mercury glass and wreathWelcome to my 2nd annual Hooked on Holiday House Tours, when bloggers from all over the world are invited to show us how they decorate for the season. Yesterday I showed you my family room and kitchen, so today I thought I’d show you my dining room. No red in here–just shades of white, gold, and silver.

mercury glass trees

It all started with my mercury-glass trees. Each year I add a few more things to go with them.

votive candle

I won this silver and gold wreath from my sweet blog friend Susan’s giveaway at Between Naps on the Porch:

This room is a work in progress and is still a little bare (needs a sideboard, etc.)–but it’s getting there! It was a little-used living room until last year.

Julia's dining room-Christmas

See how the room looked for fall here. If you missed yesterday’s post about my family room and kitchen decorated for Christmas, click here.

Now it’s your turn to show us how you decorate your house! Add your link below. Just please be sure to:

  1. Add the permalink to the specific blog post, not your general blog address.
  2. Link back to this party from your post.
  3. Double-check to make sure your link works and goes to the right page so it doesn’t get deleted!

The party is now closed to new entries. Thanks to everyone who participated!

You have beautiful colors in this room! The table looks lovely. I was surprised that you’ve been adding items gradually; this is the first year I’ve been aware of mercury glass in the shops.
Thank you for hosting this party; I miss the regular ones but totally understand you need to have a life too. :)

Julia, I love your simple~ yet very elegant and cozy decor. The dining room is gorgeous! That Lily, boy does she have the “knack”, eh? The wreaths are so perfect in the square windows. Awesome photography too.
Now I want some hot chocolate too, only I want to sit in YOUR house to drink it! I definitely gleaned some ideas here, which is good since I’m not finished decorating!

Julia, it’s all beautiful! I love your tree and all the red & white in your family room, it’s all so pretty. I love simple too, just can’t make myself do simple very often. :) ANd your mercury glass collection is very impressive, I keep adding to mine too. Love that stuff & it’s showing up at all the discounters now & even the cheap versions look nice. I just found some pretty votive holders at Old Time Pottery for $1.99 and they mix right in with the other stuff.

You did a great job with it all!! HOpe everyone will stop by my party too, which is still going strong.

Haven’t noticed any issues with the rug yet. I’ll have to pay attention next time we’re sitting there. It was intended to be kind of temporary, so I haven’t thought much about it, I guess! -Julia

Julia, I love your mercury glass. I didn’t know it could look so stunning against your golden paint color. I have some vintage shiny brite ornaments that remind me of your candleholders.

On another note I can’t find the link one of your crafty friends did on using glass candleholders and covered jars/canisters to make apothacary jars. I wanted to show my wife and she was busy with supper and surfed past it and couldn’t find it later. anybody…help
