By JULIA @ HOOKEDONHOUSES.NET
The day you’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived. I received the requisite 10 Fake Foto entries from Hooked on Houses readers, which means: 1) that I’m obligated to show you one of mine, and 2) that it’s time to vote for a winner, who will receive a $15 gift certificate to Amazon.
Here I am–yes, that’s me–in the mid-’80s with my family. For this portrait, my family drove down by the Ohio River and posed between a couple of trees. You can practically hear the birds singing and the crickets chirping all around us, can’t you? We were very outdoorsy like that.
Okay. Now that I’ve given you a good laugh at my expense, it’s time to check out the photos that you guys sent in.
1. Amy of Lemons & Roses sent this wedding photo in. It’s a very nice picture of her and her husband. Too bad they’re trapped between the layers of their wedding cake!
2. Julia of Miz Juney Talks sent this photo of herself taken at Glamour Shots. I think she looks pretty good!
3. Julia of Miz Juney Talks also sent this school photo of her daughter in, pointing out that the photographer didn’t even bother to fix her bow, which was flipped over (so cute though, isn’t she?):
4. Amy of Living Locurto was really rockin’ the ’80s hair in this picture:
5. Angela of The Painted House and her sister got stuck in the bottom of a brandy glass. Not cool.
6. Marie of Watch the Wind Blow By submitted this photo of herself with her siblings. Yes, there were 9 of them! Marie is the cute little one in front with the pigtails, who looks none too happy with the photographer:
7. Debbie of Reflections of Debbie sent this Glamour Shots photo in of herself. The more I look at these old pictures, the more I think the trick is to keep your hair short and simple so you don’t look outdated ten years later. Oh, and don’t get any big perms. I learned that lesson the hard way.
8. Jen of Sanctuary Arts at Home was channeling Debbie Gibson in this shot. Love the hat!
9. Karen of The Junior Buhlers submitted this wacky photo of herself and her friends. She’s the one in the wig and the tie.
10. Valorie of Visual Vamp submitted this old family photo, in which they all look pretty grim about getting their picture taken. She says she’s the oldest:
Now it’s time to vote for your favorite. Whoever gets the most votes by Saturday will win the Amazon Gift card.

These are hilarious!! Angela and her sister in that brandy glass is by far my favorite!! Well, Amy and her husband in the wedding cake comes in a close second. TOO FUNNY!!
OMG! I just realized that was your family in the very first photo! ha! Your mom’s tie, your brother’s half closed eyes, that wooded background! So funny! ha.
hee hee – loved this – and mostly loved that each and everyone one of you is such a good sport !! congrats to all – le
I had to vote for the poor kids who were pushed into the bottom of the brandy glass! One question – who drank the brandy? LOL!
Yeah, I had to vote for the wedding cake.
This is a hoot! I especially love that I remember that picture of your family from college. I thought you looked so pretty in your barretted hair and lacy dress. Vive le 80s!
Are your brothers eyes closed? I LOVE your picture. Can I vote for you?? lol I also laughed at Jen’s Debbie Gibson picture.
)
Marie–
Yep, his eyes are closed! We’re a little puzzled as to why we kept it. Apparently it was decided that the rest of us looked good enough to carry the photo without him. -Julia
ROFL!!! OMG those are hilarious! Bless them all for sharing them, they really brightened my day
Isn’t it amazing what some of these places will put behind us in photos or do to our photos? Crazy! I’ve got a couple of goofy pics like these also from way back when.
My favorite is #1…stuck in between layers of cake. Love it.
I love the sisters stuck in the brandy glass *and* the little girl with the bow. Too funny! You’ve gotta love the 80′s, right? The perms, the mom ties…I’m glad that’s behind us.
Oh gosh – stuck between layers of cake – so funny! They’re all great!
This gave me a big laugh… love this. And am I the only one, but I kind of miss 80′s hair. Sometimes. But that’s only b/c I have natural curl and cannot control it.
Oh, these are rich! I *literally* found one of me at like 1:00 in the morning last night (well, this morning really)… the pic is me and my gals en route to a Motley Crue concert circa 1987. Also found a very poor school shot of me in 1st grade sporting my Dorothy Hamill ‘do. Am somewhat relieved contest was today so photos can stay tucked away.
This is a tough vote. Yours is up there, Ms. Julia! I’m kind of enjoying the stink eye Marie is giving the photographer in her family photo, though. Hmmm….Tough vote!
Yes, it’s me…I’m showing my face here despite the multitude of crimes I committed within that brandy glass: the braces, the eye make up, the hair. I was a lucky girl to have parents who loved me unconditionally.
Amy in the Wedding Cake: that is freakin’ AWESOME! If you ask me, I’d much rather be trapped on a layered cake than in a brandy glass.
Julia, let’s have a slumber party and you can teach me how to roll my hair like that–you 80s babe you.
And they all remind me of pictures that are lurking in shoeboxes in my closet just waiting to be scrapbooked!
I had to go with the Brandy snifter … I have the same photo from prom circa 1983! Ummm Hello, underage alcohol issues anyone!?!
I’m still chuckling. LOL
This was fun, Julia. I voted…
I was all over voting for “Karen gets wiggy with her friends” mainly because I have the same exact photo with my goofy friends from that age! hahaha
Hilarious!
~melody~
Too bad we couldn’t vote for yours. I voted for #6.
I vote for Marie’s family photo!! Seriously made me spit out my coffee this morning when I saw her glare at the camera! Love this! Too funny!
I had to vote for Valorie because it made me laugh out loud – sorry Valorie! Julia, I still have that one of you and the family in my wallet, guess I need an updated one? I would say let’s never go back to either the 70′s or the 80′s when it comes to hair and fashion.
I was all set to vote for the girls with the Glamour Shots, because they are so much BETTER than the one my daughter talked me into getting.
a few years ago. But I had to laugh at Karen’s with her friends, so she got my vote. This was tough, thanks to all who entered for sharing. Funny post!!!
Oh, I wish I’d discovered your blog sooner. I had a great Fake Photo- High School portrait of me on a dock with lots of sail boats behind me. It’s a classic.
