Welcome to my new blog home! Moving from my site on WordPress.com to my own domain has taken lots of late nights, frantic e-mails to tech support, and a good deal of Advil, but it’s finally up and running. Hooray!

You’ll have to be patient when viewing old posts (anything published before this one) because you may encounter some broken links. I’m working my way through them as quickly as I can, but with nearly 300 posts to edit, it may take awhile.

Now if you would do me a BIG FAVOR and change any links or bookmarks you may have with my old blog address to my new one, I’d really appreciate it.

It’s now easier than ever to remember my address. It’s http://hookedonhouses.net. You can hook things with a net, and I’m on the ‘Net, and the site is a dot-net. A no-brainer, right?

I know it’s a pain to change links on your blog, so to thank you, I’m giving away a $20 Amazon Gift Card at the end of the week. If you update your blogroll and add my new site to it, let me know in the comments of this post and you’ll be entered in the drawing.

1 hookedonhouses September 29, 2008 at 8:19 pm: Oh, boy. You guys are NOT going to believe this. I had 60 comments here but now they’re gone. My tech support person (read: husband) just accidentally erased the entire month of September from my blog.

*deep breaths*

Okay, so he was eventually able to retrieve everything but the first post. Luckily I was able to print out the comments before they disappeared, so I’m going to type them back in. These comments were their entries for the contest, after all! Just wanted to explain what happened to yours if you stopped back by and it was gone. I will get them all re-typed as quickly as possible.

It will all work itself out over time. Trust me, as you know, I just went through the blog move thing myself. It takes awhile to rebuild your site and get all cozy in your new home, but no use losing any more sleep over it! I’m still trying to get settled. I don’t even have my header installed yet (let alone finished!)

MY RESPONSE TO STEPHANIE:
Wordpress recommended Bluehost as the most compatible host, so that’s what I went with. I was told it would be very easy by others who used it, but we ran into multiple issues and it took over a week of late nights to get it up and running. Tech support at Bluehost was prompt in helping us, though, which I appreciate! Good luck with yours!!

MY RESPONSE TO KATHRYN:
For those of you who don’t follow me on Twitter and don’t know the story, there’s a company in Arizona that owns the hookedonhouses.com address and they refused to sell it to me “for any amount.” They’ve had it for 3 yrs and haven’t used it yet, so I’m not sure why they wouldn’t let me have it. Therefore, the dot-net. Oh, well, this will work just fine.
