Remember that bedroom room I showed you with the layers upon layers of crown molding in it? I asked the question, “Is there such a thing as too much crown molding?” And boy, did you guys have a lot of opinions on the subject!
Well, Hooked on Houses reader Susie, who has a fun blog called Hillcrest Acres, wrote and asked if I’d post photos of the rest of the house. I thought if she was interested, maybe the rest of you would be, too, so here they are.
This is a newly constructed home in New Hope, Pennsylvania, selling for $3.25 million. It has 5 bedrooms, and 5.5 baths.
I have to say I find the name a little pretentious, especially considering it’s in Pennsylvania, not France. But whatever. The house is fun to look at, and that’s the important thing. Let the gawking begin!

For the $3.25 million price tag, I hope they throw in some landscaping! Like a bush…or something. I just love, love those wall colors with that wood floor. It’s like coffee and creamer. They just GO.
That staircase is awfully nice too….the whole house is. I think I really like it. I’m not a big fan of the castle look on the outside though.
And you just know that the future owners will only have one or two kids.
Overall, it’s really beautiful. I could live in that kitchen (which probably the same square footage as my whole apartment). I like it.
It is all just a bit overdone!!! But I do love the staircase.
I do love all of those wood floors.
I love the inside of this house…but I cannot get over the “castle in a cornfield” idea. The exterior is not so great if you ask me. It is trying way too hard….very “nouveau riche”..but then again it’s the “riche” part that counts.

I love that house. I live in the same general area but don’t live in a house like that. I was in Charlotte, NC visiting my parents and noticed a lot of the newer larger homes moving back into the gothic stone look. I like it but probably will never live in one. Too much house to clean and dust. I don’t even take care of this one well enough. haha.
I think this house is BEAUTIFUL! I love the old world castle look. I love all the detailed woodwork (with the exception of the over-done crowned master). I’d live there!
Guess that is what 3.25$mil looks like with no landscaping….NAKID !

That’s an awful lot of custom millwork for a spec house, no? And a lot of beige. How close is this house to a city where someone who could afford to buy it would commute to? Or is it in the middle of nowhere?
I’m not sure about the area, Robin. Anyone out there from PA who can tell us about New Hope?

It needs more trees, some vivid flowers, etc. To be dramatic:

I agree with Marie. I actually love the interior, the exterior – not so much. I like how uncluttered it is – alas, I’m sure that will not be the case once somebody rich purchases it and lets their designer loose. (unless of course it was a designer with tastes more like my own
)
The staircase is gorgeous. The rest of the house is beautiful, but NMS. I just can’t imagine shuffling around in my pajama pants and bathrobe in that kind of a space!
And ITA about the landscaping, or lack there of. How about some hedges? a potted plant? Something!
New Hope is a growing area just outside of Philly. A lot of money from Bucks County (which has for years been a very desirable area) seems to be moving that way. New Hope proper is a very trendy kinda hip area with a lot of artist and trendy shops. Think Starbucks and Range Rovers.
One more thing while we’re nit pickin’. Please send a memo to put garage doors on the side or back. Not too much to ask.
Like April, the only part of the house that I don’t like is the over-done molding in the bedroom. I like the idea of building a house that will be around much longer than most of the wasteful McMansions. The interiors remind me of the updates to many of the turn of the century brownstones/limestones in NYC.

It is very funny that there are no plants here.
And now that it’s pointed out, the house exterior would look 5x better without the garage doors there.
Oh wow! My husband walked past and I called him to see the house, his comment was “where is the photo of the inside of the garages?”. Shows where his priorities are!
I live in this area and drove by this house just this week. It looks absolutely ridiculous as it is directly on the street. 4.7 acres and they couldn’t have placed it closer to the copse of tree to the right or behind!!!! For the person who asked about location earlier – it’s a good hour commute to Philadelphia or 1:30 to NY
I drove by this house and was so spellbound I made a u-turn and sat in the driveway. If I had the money to afford this house comfortably–it would be mine. As it is it’s only a dream–but what a nice dream!
I could see myself setting up house here…but alas, it is out of my price range by about 3.1 million dollars! Even so, great pictures.
I have only just discovered this website so forgive me for posting on old ones. Still…am I the only one who thought the floor boards looked so good that they actually look fake? No? Just me then?
Exterior is too new money for my taste and I’d like a fenced in yard too. Happy to add my own garden but really a fence!!!
