Anne Hathaway and her husband Adam Shulman just bought this old Colonial-style house in Westport, Connecticut. Known as CompoBello, the “mini estate” was built in the 1920s at the end of a long, gated, cobblestone drive. Take a look!
Anne Hathaway & Adam Shulman’s House in Westport
At first I thought there was a wreath on the door, but a close-up shows it’s actually a round window:
Kinda cool, right? You don’t see doors like that very often.
The listing said:
European sophistication meets beach cottage chic at this private oasis steps from Compo Beach and Longshore Golf+Beach Club. Tucked away at the end of a Belgian block-style cobblestone driveway on .90 acres, this 1920 home is renovated throughout to the highest standards.
The dining room has a stone fireplace and vaulted ceilings:
There are two kitchens. This is the main one, open to the great room:
The space features an AGA range and a brick fireplace.
Anne Hathaway has received an Academy Award (Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Les Misérables), a Golden Globe, and a Primetime Emmy Award, among others. Her films have earned $6.4 billion worldwide.
Hathaway and Shulman also own properties in New York and Los Angeles.
The second floor has two wings. Love this built-in storage in the hall:
There are 5 bedrooms + 6 baths.
The master suite has a walk-out to a large redwood deck that’s crying out for a table and comfy chairs:
A sitting room:
A second, smaller kitchen leads to the pool:
The cozy banquette is pretty sweet:
I’ll be hanging out in this kitchen and you can have the bigger one. 😉
Anne Hathaway’s breakout role was in the 2001 movie The Princess Diaries. (Still love that one!) The story goes that she accidentally fell off of her chair while auditioning for the role of the klutzy princess Mia Thermopolos and was hired on the spot. 🙂
A barn-style pool house dates to the 1920s:
It has 1,500 square feet with wide plank oak floorboards, built-in book shelves, and a loft space:
I think they should decorate it like the “Princess Diaries” firehouse Anne Hathaway’s character Mia lived in:
Wouldn’t that be fun? They could add a spiral staircase and a firefighter’s pole, ha.
The real firehouse was on the market a few years ago, and you can see it here.
Hathaway married actor and businessman Adam Shulman in 2012.
They have a son named Jonathan who was born in 2016.
*NOVEMBER 2018 UPDATE*
According to Variety, Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman “quietly sold her 1920s Colonial residence about an hour outside of Manhattan in the wealthy seaside community of Westport, Conn., in what appears to have been an off-market deal valued at $2.7 million.
“Not counting carrying costs, improvement expenses and real estate fees, the sale price represents a $90,000 loss on the $2.79 million the “Les Misérables” star and husband Adam Shulman paid for the property just over two years ago.”
