Paradise Cove, the name of this waterfront home on Cape Cod, has a sign at the entrance that reads: “The Way Life Should Be.”
It’s hard to argue with that!
Those turquoise board shutters with the starfish cutouts make me smile. The beachy theme is carried inside the house, too. Take a look!
Paradise Cove
A very nautical-looking bathroom with a barrel ceiling and wood-paneled walls:
I’m smitten with this adorable wall fireplace:
A wood-paneled sunroom that opens to the patio and pool:
Architectural firm Polhemus Savery DaSilva designed Paradise Cove.
In their description of it, they write, “The house combines a classic expanded cape form with shingle style elements and decorative interior finishes common in coastal Maine, the owner’s previous home location.”
Gotta love the fun weather vane atop the garage:
“Shingled brackets, an eyebrow dormer and a ship’s stern balcony are at the center of the ocean cove facing back and surrounded by numerous windows to the view.”
In other words, the back of the house is as pretty as the front!
In this shot you can see how close they are to the water:
Thanks to Polhemus Savery DaSilva for sharing Paradise Cove with us.

Paradise indeed. Pretty much a perfect beach house. Love all the traditional elements but with a bright and open interior. I hope their hydrangeas survived the brutal winter and all the snow.

Just this weekend, I was antiquing when I saw a brass porthole for sale. I wanted to buy it but couldn’t think of what to do with it. Now I know. What a great idea to turn it into a mirror!

It certainly has a lot of character! Love the inlaid compass/star in the foyer, the kitchen, the bedroom with the blue wall and fireplace, and the views. Beautiful house!

Gorgeous! I love the combination of white, wood and stone. Love the nautical “head”. I wonder what water it’s on – looks like a lake. Beautiful beachy house for Cape Cod. I’d live there in a second, snow or not.

Lovely! Reminds me a bit of Emily’s beach house on Revenge. The colors are so fresh and soothing. It really does look like the way life should be! 🙂

This is one of the prettiest homes that you’ve featured lately! The homeowner has a wonderful sense of style. I also like the fact that the home doesn’t seem staged–case in point, there’s an actual television in the family/living room! gasp! haha

Hi Julia, it’s a grim old blustery day down here in Canberra, Australia – the type of weather that makes one feel a bit flat. So thanks for all the hard work you put into your blog; it really cheered me up this morning. And this house is just gorgeous!

What a pretty house. I like all the rooms and the exteriors too. The house and fixtures have a lot of heart, but the furniture and decor seems a bit generic to me. It’s nice to see a house, though, that sells it’s charm, even through various homeowners.

Julia – this place is amazing. I can’t decide on my favorite feature – the inlaid compass in the floor, the to-die-for bathroom, or the gorgeous kitchen! Thanks so much for sharing!

Best “Hooked on Houses” house ever. Love all the nautical touches, classy without getting corny yet not afraid to be whimsical, such as the starfish in the staircase. I like the inside as much as the outside and the location is just about perfect. I can picture myself enjoying the summer sun there with all the windows flung open to the sea breezes and the laughter of children playing outside. I can also picture myself sitting in the front of the cozy fireplace all winter long and especially at Christmas with family everywhere.
