Even though I don’t sew, I love seeing spaces where creative women like Susan work.
She has a guest house on her property that she uses as a sewing studio. I thought it was so charming that I had to share it with you.
Take a look!
A Colorful Sewing Studio
This is the kind of place where it would be easy to “whistle while you work!”
I love the sitting area in the guest cottage, too, with the slipcovered sofa and chairs:
Thanks to Susan for sharing this with us.
What would you create if you had a space like this?

SWEET is just how I would describe this adorable room!
This space is definitely calling for a “Where Women Create”** magazine photo shoot, stat.

I’ve read Susan’s blog, + she’s very funny!

It’s so bright and colorful, designed to inspire. Where did she get those lovely green and white lampshades?
Stephanie says
As a matter of fact, she did. Thanks! 🙂

Oh I love this! I don’t sew or scrapbook but I just love seeing how other’s organize their hobbies. Aqua and red….just lovely!

My grandmother used to sew and we had a separate sewing studio at the back of our house. That was the place my grandma and I would talk for hours. We would create beautiful pieces (she would make me dresses and I would make dresses for my dolls!) and life was a bit sweeter there.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful space today. It brought me some special memories back! 🙂

What a special story! Thanks for sharing. I think I shall learn to sew when my boys are grown – can’t seem to find time just now. We play Lego and go to the skatepark 🙂

What a lovely room! And all those stunning bits of fabric make me wish I’d stuck with sewing when I was a young teenager. Wow and double wow to those pieces of furniture – so special!

Oh, how I would love to have a room like that for sewing, art, crafts, etc. So nice!

Totally in love with this space! What a wonderful spot to create. Not only does the room come together so nicely but it looks as though she has found the cutest pieces and trinkets to use practically in her crafting. Love It!! Wish I had an extra room to do something similar (oh and the knowledge of sewing would be nice).

Hi Julia! Wow, thanks for featuring my sewing room! I appreciate your kind words so much. This space has been such a happy and functional place to create. “Real sewing” is actually happening in there! 😉 I sew about a hundred pillows per month, and dozens of table runners, tote bags, and buntings. 🙂 Thanks again, Julia.

I love it, Susan. My mom tried to teach me to sew when I was a girl but it didn’t “stick.” I think if we’d had a room like this I would’ve been a lot more interested in it. Ha. 🙂

Looks to me like she’s doing quilting and maybe making pillows. I call that serious sewing. I like that room.

Susan’s sewing studio is nothing short of AMAZING!!! She lives on a beautiful property with a dreamy old farmhouse and a guest house she transformed into a pretty, yet practical sewing studio for herself! It is happy, inspiring and user-friendly. What more could a person that needs to get work done ask for? Organization CAN be cute – and the colors are so happy! {Truth be told, I would LIVE there if she would let me.}
And for those that have questioned if any ‘real sewing’ gets done in that room…I have been there many times – and YES, she does sew here! She is my go-to girl for all the fabric products I carry in my shop. Her antique form may not be used to sew dresses…but each month she creates around 100 of the most gorgeous pillows, (among other things!) in this space and they make my customers oh-so-happy. :o)

It really is amazing. I’m jealous that you’ve gotten to spend time there — thanks, Mary! 🙂
