Pamela Anderson’s Shabby Chic Beach House in Malibu

About 10 years ago, Pamela Anderson gave a tour of her shabby chic beach house in Malibu on “MTV Cribs.” It was decked out for Christmas at the time (I mean really, really decked), and this style probably looks a little dated to a lot of us in 2011, but at the time all of the white slipcovers and funky vintage finds looked kind of fresh and different.

A lot of you have asked me over the years to track down photos of the house, but I searched to no avail. Until, that is, today, when I discovered it on the MTV-UK website. Let’s take a stroll down Celeb-House Memory Lane, shall we?

*Note that these are screenshots from the video, which wasn’t in great shape, so they’re kind of blurry. You can watch the video itself, but these snapshots give you an idea.

She was starring in the TV show “V.I.P” at the time, which ran from 1998-2002.

The dining room:

The kitchen:

Her two boys were still little and made appearances in the video. She had their artwork taped to the cabinets.

Looking down the staircase you can see the big Christmas tree standing in the living room:

The boys’ bedroom:

The house has 6 bedrooms and 5 baths.

Her all-white bedroom:

I wish the photos were better, but the video had seen better days.

Pamela shows off the separate building that holds her luxurious bath:

The back of the house, as seen from the beach:

You can watch the entire video tour at MTV Cribs. Does anyone else remember seeing this on TV when it aired?

Wow, even though the photos are a bit blurry, I still feel like I am going crazy just by watching these photos! It’s like a doll house!

I think I do like lots of objects from this house, but put together like this simply is way too much for me.

Thanks for finding them, Julia 😀

Thank you so much Julia! This is the house I have always wanted to visit and this is the first mail I sent you about! It’s an amazing deco, I love it all; who could imagine that Pamela the bimbo coul have such a fine taste for shabby! I love it! thanxxxxxxxxxxx

OMG I remember seeing this on tv. I couldn’t believe how down to earth she was, but she was raised pretty poor. You really need to watch the episode to see how beautiful her home is and she loves it too.

Yes, I recommend watching the video to get a better idea. Hard to get good photos from it since the video was in kind of bad shape. I have searched for still photos and never found them, so if anyone does, please let me know!!

      • cécile delouvrier says

I’ve some very good pics of the house, but these are real paper pics from an old magazine and I cannot put them into my computer! Sorry…

I’m all about Malibu today also! :-)

I really don’t really admire her, but it seems she has a good taste when it comes to location and decor. It seems to be a cool place.

    Wishing you a great day.

Am a total sucker for Shabby Chic, I actually remember a book of Rachele Ashwell’s that she had shown a lot of the things that she had done in Pamela Anderson Lee’s home. Of course, I lent the book to someone… who knows where it’s at now??

    Have a great day Julia!

    • hookedonhouses says

Oh, really? I’ll have to see if I can track that book down–thanks, Caron!

Not long after this aired, my sister and I were in Southern California visiting some friends. We were in Malibu for the day and we decided to have a picnic lunch at a public portion of the beach right next to the Colony where Pam’s house is, along with many other celebrities. Well, the fence they had to mark off that section of the beach only had a top for some reason, not a bottom part. I guess it was more to keep vehicles out than anything. Who knows? Anyway, we walked further down the beach and I remember how excited my sister and I were when we recognized the beachfront part of Pam’s house. It was kinda cool!

  7. says

Wow! I really love her house! This is soooo not what I was expecting for Pamela Anderson’s house. I would expect it to be very modern with tons of animal print. lol.

  8. Neesha says

I do remember watching this episode and I drooled over her house. I love shabby chic and her house was so girly and pretty, just like her. I also LOVE the bath!

  9. says

Julia I agree with Valorie, if edited and updated some, this Malibu prime locale home would be just gorgeous!!

I remember seeing that episode of cribs! It’s strange how different my memory images are compared to the actually pictrues! I always thought of her house in the ‘modern’ shabby chic look in my head, but this looks waaaay too overdone.

hopefully she has edited in the past 10 years!

  11. says

I remember this episode! I fell in love with her Shabby Chic beach bungalow/cottage. It was so romantic and feminine and I really loved her big bathtub. The Christmas decorations are over the top, but the white and frills is very much my taste for a beach home. If I didn’t have a guy to live/contend/deal with :)

  12. says

She auctioned all of her stuff off a few years ago from that house. I remember reading that there were broken light bulbs in the auction that I think were pink. Also, dirty lingerie. Yes, I said dirty. As in needed some Woolite on it. My friend went and bought some of her picture frames. It was held in a warehouse some place.

  13. CMT says

She sold this house and had a big sale that got rid of everything from the house. She is supposed to be building a new one in Malibu. Any luck getting info on that one? I read she was living in a trailer at Paradise Cove until it was done.

  14. Kim says

What a nice house! I didn’t have cable back then so I wasn’t able to catch this on cribs. The style does look kind of outdated, but not too bad. Some touch ups and this place would look really nice.

  15. says

I remember watching this when it was on TV. I was pretty surprised that was her home decor style- I pictured her style to be sort of dirty rocker-ish and dark. Totally unexpected! But I did like it, seemed cozy and beachy for it’s location.

  16. Ann-Marie says

I remember this! I had just gotten married and was living on Pensacola Beach and I loved that shabby chic/beachy look! Boy my tastes have changed but I’m still married and now live in beautiful Fairhope, Alabama! I was wondering if you’ve ever thought about the houses from Little Women or Fatal Attraction? Those 2 always stuck out in my mind..ok I’m new to your blog & I love it!

  17. says

I remember seeing that episode! I thought the camera moved way too fast in order for me to take it all in. That was when I loved the all white, shabby chic look, and I also remember seeing Rachael Ashwell’s home featured on another channel about this same time.

I think P. Anderson had some kind of “yard sale” sometime back and sold off a bunch of her stuff from this house.

    Thanks for the memories!

  18. Andrea says

Not only do I remember this, I remember the reaction my husband and I had when we saw it. It might as well be my MIL’s house. It is decorated EXACTLY the same. We had no idea that she had anything in common with Pamela but it could explain some things. A lot of things.

  19. Dawn says

I don’t get the separate bath room. Isn’t it all glass and see-through?

Even if the yard is very private, I don’t know if I’d feel comfortable bathing in that room.

I love the shabby chic style.

I think that it is absolutely horrid (hope it’s okay to say that.) Actually it makes me itch all over. This is exactly what happens when a “pinky” finds a few things that totally thrill them and buys a ton or so of every version of that pinky thrill that she can find and then layers all the stuff all over the place like they’re building a bird nest or something. Ms. Ashwell never meant for shabby to be done like this!

  21. says

wow, thank you so much for sourcing this house. I remember when it first aired in the UK and I rushed to get a video of it. I replayed it countless times and so coverted that house! I have no idea what happened to my video so I am thrilled to be able to view it again. Thank you so much. I love your blog with a passion. Keep up the good work, Sally xxx

  22. Nita says

I think it’s beautiful, minus all the holiday decor. It seems real and down to earth. All these other celeb homes feel so cold, and where in ANY of their houses do you see a slow cooker sitting out on the counter?

  23. says

I remember watching this episode and thinking wow – this is my dream home. Now it looks really twee and I would never have anything too flowery in my house. I can’t believe it’s 10 years ago and it just shows how much your taste can change (or the times).
p.s. I just started a blog and added you as a link, but i can’t see the button/image – i tried going into where I edit the links and copying this: centeraborder=0 into image address in the advanced section? If you know how to do it let me know, I’m using wordpress. Thanks Julia!

    • hookedonhouses says

There’s more code there that you can’t see, so you have to hit “select all” before copying. It’s kind of confusing. My blog designer had to explain that to me because I couldn’t figure it out! Here it is:

Nice of you to include my button in your sidebar. Good luck with your new blog, Anna! :)

Those cameras wooshing around and the fast way this was cut had me reaching for the travel sickness pills!

I like Pammy, she seems to have a natural nature and is a great mum. Bit too much stuff for my taste, and the boys will, I’m sure, react when they are a bit older to the girly bedroom (actually they are older and they probably have). Living by the beach seems like a great way to live. Let’s hope she shows us her dream home when it’s finally finished (seem to remember she was having builder trouble).

  25. says

I do remember this and I had wondered at the time about her boys growing up in such a feminine environment, but it was also nice to see that Pamela was a clearly a ‘nester’, which I wouldn’t have thought for the world. I remember she collected McCoy vases or some-such at the time too…I was coveting them, they were all white and she had a ton of them!
    Great sluething!

  26. Christina says

Cute excep it’s much too cluttered in the living room.. I do like the concept of shabby chic is because it’s not too precious of a place to touch anything and make you feel like home. I love beautiful things, but having a comfortable place, well decorated and a sort of friendly lived in look.. much more inviting for great friends, for anyone.. That’s just my opinion.

  27. says

I remember seeing this the first time around and I thought it was so warm and cozy. It seemed totally opposite of what she portrays. I thought the boys bedroom was very feminine, and I could imagine little guys keeping it like that! That bathroom really surprised me, I wonder how often it was really used.

  28. says

Yes, I remember seeing this originally when it aired…I wonder if she still owns it. It’s so shabby chic and adorable.

  29. K. Smith says

I loved this show never had the whole thing though so thanks for putting it out here. Be blessed,

This is so funny, I hardly remember any episodes of Cribs, but this one really made an impression on me. Shabby chic was such a hot look, Pam (and her designer) really pulled it off. Congrats for finding this and thanks for the memories!

  31. Angele Hudson says

Yesssss, I saw this actual footage years ago on MTV cribs, and it stuck in my mind ever since, I was able to track this same video down also(took me a minute:). Now I have it saved to my favs….I watch it over and over and over again like a mad woman lol…smh…it’s an obsession I tell you :)….but seriously….I’m just soooo INSPIRED!!!

    • Cindy W. says

I do the same thing Angele does. I’m hooked on the video and watch it over and over again and never get tired of it. If you can find it, CMT has a slightly longer version of the Cribs video than MTV. They haven’t shown it for along time though. That episode along with Pamela Anderson, also includes LeAnn Rimes’ and Jewel’s homes.

  32. Cindy W. says

I love this website and Pamela Anderson’s home has been my dream home for along time. I had spent a lot of time looking for pictures of it. I don’t think she stayed in this house very long though due to privacy issues, probably after her house was shown on Cribs. She moved across the street to another house and decorated it the same and occasionally you can find back issues of magazines with pictures of it on EBay. It was just as beautiful. I did find some still pictures of her house from the Cribs video in a paperback book called “Cribs: A Guided Tour Inside the Homes of Your Favorite Stars”. There’s 25 pictures on 6 pages so some of them are real small, but it was worth it to me. I found the book on

  33. Cydney L. says

I remember watching that episode of Cribs. I actually own the MTV Cribs book that showcases Pam’s home in it. If I am correct, Pam sold this home and bought another one across the street, but a few houses down. She remodeled it to her taste and it is now on the site. You can rent her home for $20,000 a week or $75,000 a month. There are also pictures of the inside of the home. Looks to be decorated the same as this one. Visit and enter the vrbo #, which is 387082. Enjoy!

I have been searching for pictures of Pamela’s house for a while now! I remember watching the programme and thinking how beautiful it was. Thank you for finding this.

Oh wow, I remember seeing that episode when it aired! I was a teenager at the time and I fell in love with her house. It is a lot, but I still love it. It’s so romantic and homey. Nice to see it again after all these years.
