Check out this sweet two-bedroom Craftsman bungalow for sale in Galveston, Texas. The homeowners spent over a year restoring the original woodwork, and it’s gorgeous. They even hired a forensic paint specialist to uncover the original paint colors so they could replicate them!
The Craftsman bungalow was built in 1914.
There are beautiful hardwood floors throughout the house.
The bungalow has 2 bedrooms + 1 bath, with 1,144 square feet.
The bathroom has a freestanding clawfoot tub:
The kitchen is charming, too, with yellow walls + green cabinets.
The woodwork and built-ins are the real stand-outs here, though:
Want it? They’re asking $245,000. Check the listing for more photos and information. Visit my Craftsman Bungalow page to see more houses like this, including a cute one in Oregon! 🙂
Julia,
The gorgeous woodwork is the first thing that caught my eye. I usually am not a fan of dark woodwork but in craftsman houses I love the original period look that fits the house. I have never heard of a forensic paint specialist but I guess these are people that research historical and old homes to uncover the correct paint and wallpaper that was used for the period.
BTW….HGTV featured a show last night called “Saving Galveston”. It was also a craftsman that was on the demo block and saved. Whoa… it was in really rough shape and you have to check out the “before & “after” pics to believe it. They did an incredible job in renovating this home.
I missed that show. I’ll have to look to see if they’re showing it again soon — thanks, Teresa!

Another Galveston gem! My dream is to move back to Galveston one day (I’m BOI – born on the island) and to live in one of these charming old cottages. I was in Galveston just today, celebrating my daughter’s birthday, and what do I find here? The house I should have gone to see! Ah well, in good time. Thanks for sharing this charmer.
Thanks, Sherry! 🙂
Lovely house, reminds me of my late grandparents house.
It’s adorable but I can’t with the green paint. Reminds me too much of schools and hospitals. Maybe it looks better in real life.
Not one thing I do not like about this bungalow. Great job.
I appreciate the green paint as it gives it the authentic look. There are old houses, and Craftsman houses galore in Galveston. Many of them are in poorer areas though and could really use some restoration. So glad someone had the time, money and resources to save this one, they did a superb job, and they managed to not tear down the walls separating the kitchen (my pet peeve). Just lovely.
Razzafratz! I missed this show last night…AND it’s not airing again soon! It repeated at 2am but that’s already missed too. I would have loved to see this show. Having visited Galveston Island area, it’s awesome!
Sweet!
I don’t think I could leave that adorable place after pouring so much love and attention into it!
I love me a craftsman and this one doesn’t disappointment. I love that they restored the original woodwork. It’s gorgeous!
So happy to see this house intact after so many site show them after someone decides to paint the beautiful original woodwork and knock out the built ins and add a chrome-de-la-chrome industrial kitchen and bath, etc. These owners went above and beyond to honour this Craftsman! BRAVO!!!
I love the paint colors, the front porch and inside, those built-in bookshelves. I wonder if as part of the restoration they added central air conditioning? Window units would ruin the beauty of the exterior and I can’t imagine living in Galveston without AC.
It’s great to see houses like this being so beautifully restored and cared for. Someone poured a lot of money and love into this house!
