Beloved author Judy Blume is selling her cedar-shake cottage on Lake Tashmoo in Massachusetts. It’s the kind of laid-back summer home I dream of having someday, with antique pine floors, a stone fireplace, and a screened porch overlooking the water…ahhh…
Blume, 76, is an award-winning novelist whose books a lot of us grew up reading. I’ll never forget buying her book Forever with my allowance when I was in 6th grade. But when my parents saw it, they did not approve. They took it away before I had a chance to read past the first chapter. Darn. 😉
She and her husband, fellow writer George Cooper, fixed up the 4-bedroom, 4-bath cottage. Now they’re selling it for $2.6 million.
This is the kind of house that makes me want to play the lottery. Or rob a bank. (Kidding. Sorta.)
This just looks like a place where you could really relax and enjoy the summer. And, hello, blue hydrangeas!
She also has a house in Key West and a place in Manhattan.
She told Architectural Digest, “The truth is, I’m a houseaholic. I love to create a new nest.”
The listing says, “The main living room offers an warm open living area centered around a stone fireplace by Lew French.”
“The master bedroom suite has a private bath and office nook. A long hallway leads you to a private guest wing with 3 bedrooms, office/library and a cozy living room with a wood fireplace.”
The house was built in the 1950s, and I like how simple and unpretentious it is. How would you decorate it?
The listing says, “A truly magical setting on Lake Tashmoo. Water views and colorful perennial gardens can be enjoyed from almost every room of this artfully renovated home.”
“Walk down to the water and enjoy your private beach with deep water mooring.”
