You inspired me to do a movie house post today!
My favorite(s) didn’t make the list! Im partial to the Home Alone house and the one from Father of the Bride.

Hands down, The Proposal!!!! Closing in would be any of the homes Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan have shared. Sleepless, as well as, You’ve Got Mail!

I’m an interior designer from Melbourne, Australia – I loved your blog, I found it very inspiring. This is all new to me but I have just set up my own blog
scrapbook-melissah.blogspot.com
You may like to check it out because I had so much fun doing it. It’s got a bit of everything fashion, interiors, food, travel spots – hopefully you will find something in there that you like.
Thanks for providing me with such great entertainment!
Cheers
Melissah
I don’t think mine made the list. I would say: the Home Alone house, and the Stepmom house. But the Proposal house is probably 3rd. Have a great week, Julia!

Julia,
This is so hard to choose my favorite of your most popular list, but I really, really enjoyed “The Proposal”. It was so funny and I simply loved that gorgeous house! Didn’t you???
Well, my friend.. I want to wish you and all of your readers a really peaceful week! We all saw what happened during this weekend on the news (the shooting) and we all need to do all we can to live life in a more peaceful and harmonious way. I truly enjoy your blog because whenever I come here I feel happy… and I think that’s our job, as bloggers, make people feel happy and welcomed whenever they come to visit us, right?
Happy Week for you! π

As I was reading the title to this post, the first thing that popped into my head was the “Stepmom” house. It’s a house that I have loved ever since I saw the movie. I even like it better than the real house. Too bad it didn’t make the list.
Keep in mind these are the Top 10 movie houses I featured in 2010, so some of your favorites may have been featured in 2009 or even 2008. I featured the “Stepmom” house in 2008 and again last week, so it wasn’t in the running. π
The houseboat in Seattle is definitely one of my favorites, although… I love, love the cliffside mansion in Basic Instinct (1992). It’s so close to nature and the wild pacific. I don’t think you’ve featured that one though. Curious? Here’s the link: https://www.completely-coastal.com/2009/03/open-house-sunday-basic-instincts.html or (Link).

Three of those are Sandra Bullock movies. π
of the 2010 featured homes, I like the “It’s Complicated” the most. Can’t help it-that California vibe is irresistible, especially as I am yet again anticipating shoveling snow in just a couple of days.
My all time favorite movie house, which is hard to pick, might just have to be the house from “Dan in Real Life.” And, as bonus, I woudln’t have to move to Alaska if someone wanted to give me that house π

Meryl Streep’s wonderful kitchen in “It’s Complicated” gets my vote. I will never understand (in a suspension of disbelief sort of way) why on earth her character would choose to muck up that perfect little home with the ridiculous addition Steve Martin’s character proposed, which included moving the kitchen!
.-= Richard Taylor, AIA´s last blog ..Grandpas Dodge =-.
From that post, I do think The Proposal was my favorite too!! π
.-= Amanda @ Serenity Now´s last blog ..Join the Fun! =-.
I love the kitchen in Hanging Up. Interesting list, Julia!
.-= Ricki Jill Treleaven´s last blog ..Lacy Things =-.
I love the homes from “Death at a Funeral” and “The Proposal”! Fun to see the most popular choices.
I had such a house-crush on the Parent Trap house when I was a kid. If I were picking a house exterior from this list though it would be the Death At A Funeral house.
I really do love Movie Mondays. I’m so glad to see some of my favorite houses made the list! I love the house in “Hanging Up,” I dream about the front door and open layout. I could see a house like that in Arizona or New Mexico, or twist my arm, California. I absolutely adore Meryl’s house in “It’s Complicated” her home is perfection, as is her kitchen. I can’t believe she wanted/needed a larger one! I loved the glimpse inside her bakery and store as well. It was very Barefoot Contessa style. Happy {Movie} Monday Julia!
.-= Bre´s last blog ..Baby Itβs Cold Outside =-.
I love the first house in the movie “Hook” – it is Wendy’s house in England once she becomes a grandmother from the old story of Peter Pan
Me too! That is my favorite movie house of all time, I do believe!!! Is there a tour of this home anywhere on the web?
All of them ,I can’t decide ,I would like to take the kitchen from Its complicated ,add the facade with the ivy from Death at a Funeral ,the character/architecure of Monster in Law, the position of The Proposal, the bedroom in the Blind side and finally the lounge/fireplace in Life as we know it ,but it would look like a pretty funny house π

Without a doubt, hesitation or second thought it would be The Proposal. I don’t know that it would as attractive to me in it’s unaltered state with the pink living room, but the studio did a great job creating fantasy, especially placing those mountains in the background!

Thank you for your terrific blog! My favorite movie house has to be the beach house in “something’s gotta give”… Keep up the good work! Best, Angela
Thanks for this amazing site, on my list in joint first position has to be the houses in Something’s Gotta Give and Its complicated, I cant help obsessing about both!. Luckily, Im now in the planning stage of building my first home on just 250sqm in Addis Ababa ,Ethiopia-so telling my architect about the house in “SGG or IC” was like pulling my hair out-until now….he can see for himself!
Many thanks, keep it up, from a movie house junkie, Mimi
I really loved the house in It’s Complicated – the garden was amazing too, and her bakery/cafe as well. Actually I adore all the houses in Nancy Meyers movies–my all time favorite is the beach house in Something’s Gotta Give.
I’m not surprised at all about this Top 10. They’re fantastic.
I love the Hope Floats, It’s Complicated and Monster-in-Law houses.
Actually, I think I like them all!

Sleepless In Seattle is my favourite of the houses mentioned in your post, mind you being a Meg Ryan fan I’m probably biased.
I always thought Bruce Wayne’s mansion in Batman Returns was an amazing movie house too reminiscent of the mansion in Citizen Kane.

The it’s complicated house is definitely me and the wife’s favorite. I just wonder what it would look like after the renovation she was planning

i just discovered your blog and am having so much fun reading it all! i thought i was the only one obsessed with the houses in films and on television……i don’t know if i am comforted or not by the knowledge that there are others out there who might also muse aloud in the middle of a crowded theatre, “I wonder what color that paint is called……”
there are two films i don’t see on your lists that have amazing homes in them….i would love to see them included in your blog someday, the first is the modern house in “Flashbacks of a Fool” from 2008, and the other one is the beach home in ‘To Gillian, On Her 37th Birthday”.
keep up the great work, this is a great blog!
Thank you for all your intensive work! This site is fabulous. Father of the Bride has long been a favorite of mine. And I’ve found so many more here to fall in love with! Have you ever looked at “The Mummy II: Scorpian King”? Rachel Weis and Brendan Frasier’s English manor is wonderful. You’ll swoon over the woodwork alone. I watch it all the time just for the house interior shots. Thank goodness for DVD because a VCR tape would certainly have holes worn in it by now!
Can’t wait to see your next post. Keep them coming! Thanks again.
such sad news they are tearing down the gatsby mansion
here is the link https://blog.zap2it.com/pop2it/2011/03/real-life-great-gatsby-mansion-to-be-demolished-will-be-replaced-with-mcmansions.html
Can you write and show photos of the house featured in Nicole Kidman’s and Aaron Eckhart academy nominated film “Rabbit Hole”. Thank you.
Oh oh this is my favorite list of movies cos I have watched it last year.Life as we know it is my first choice to watch again
Do you have the house from the movie The Joneses?
One house I loved was the one in Mr. And Mrs. Smith. It was so sad to see it destroyed in the film.
