A reader sent me an email with a link to the listing for the new house she’s buying in Colorado. She writes, “In a statement I never thought I’d never need to type: The legs are no longer in the tub.” Huh? I wasn’t sure what that meant.

When I looked at the photos, this one of a mannequin wearing nothing but a tie in the living room made me do a double-take. But then I got to the bathroom and saw this:

Yikes. File this one under “Bizarre and Questionable Home Staging.” (As my daughter said when she saw this: “Why?“) The house itself has some great features that don’t involve mannequins or body parts, though. You can see the rest of it here.

This house in Texas has a surprise waiting for house hunters on the second-floor landing–a very life-like Wicked Witch of the West, who appears to be casting a spell on the bookcases. I first saw this listing in May, so it’s not a Halloween thing (and there were no other Halloween decorations in sight), so I’m not sure what she’s doing here, other than scaring prospective buyers away.

I don’t know about you, but I suddenly feel like I should hide my little dog.

A reader sent me the listing for this house, which is on the market in Louisiana. It’s a 4-bedroom, 4-bath ranch with some unusual decorating. She tells me, “This is such a stretch from the traditional, Southern homes we have around here. We definitely don’t see this style often. I found myself wondering if there’s any blood stored in the fridge.”

I’m not sure we’d find blood-sucking brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore in digs like these–they’re used to living in much grander style in their gorgeous old mansion on “Vampire Diaries.”

But their suburban cousins Steve and Doug might feel right at home…

The entry definitely sets the tone for the house. Then we have the living room, which continues it.

The headboard in the master bedroom appears to be made out of black fur. Or maybe feathers?

The dining room has some unusual bench seats around the table:

Here’s the kitchen, where my reader suspects the blood supply is stashed (for those of you who don’t watch the vamp shows, I guess I should explain that they don’t eat food, so their refrigerators are stocked with bags of blood–or bottles of Tru Blood, as the case may be):

I see so many houses that look alike in the real estate listings that it’s fun to come across something different like this.  And let’s face it, it was a flimsy good excuse to post a photo of the Salvatore brothers (any “Vampire Diaries” fans out there?). This charming three-bedroom house for sale in Richmond Heights, Missouri, isn’t just a drive-by. Nope. It’s a pull-right-up-and-park in the front yard kind of place.  My daughter Lily asked, “Are they selling the car, too?” Based on the photo, you’d think so!
