My eyes!! My eyes!!
It was pretty awful.
What I get is that the new owners wanted it to look “new” and spent tons of money making it so. What I don’t get is, if they wanted a “new” house, why didn’t they just buy one and leave that one on the market for a more historically sensitive buyer to enjoy?
P.S. The amusing part about it is, they blamed it all on a “carpenter ant infestation.” Gee, the carpenter ants *I* got rid of in this old house (ca. 1850, located in a small town in the same state) made no historically destructive aesthetic demands. They just went away. Weird.
