Nest Egg: Scenes from a Pretty Kitchen Remodel

by hookedonhouses on October 6, 2011

This morning I came across a blog called Nest Egg, written by the talented interior designer Rachel Halvorson, and this gorgeous high-backed bench stopped me in my tracks. Wow. Love that. It’s part of a kitchen remodel she’s working on for a client in Montgomery.

This corner of the room with the table and banquette seating is beautiful, too:

This adorable pup named Bean tries to steal the show, though:

Check out Rachel’s blog Nest Egg to see the before photos (and more afters) of this kitchen remodel that’s still in progress. I can’t wait to see how it all turns out!

“Wow” indeed!!! That bench is amazing! I love benches in kitchens. I think they’re so comfy and great when you have small children, especially if they’re made of outdoor fabric.

This one is to steal our hearts! :-)

Have a lovely day, Julia.

I love that breakfast nook. Looks great!

There is a teeny, tiny puppy in her blog post after the one you linked that just MELTED my heart! I have puppy fever right now!

Sweet! (The settee & the pup!) It also makes me happy to see a reclaimed wood ceiling. My family room, and my “back porch”, which I plan to make the kitchen dining room someday, were added onto my 101 year old house in 1966…using floor-to-ceiling recycled wood.

It’s lovely, but gee whiz, the before pictures aren’t too shabby, either.

Great looking kitchen! I’ve always thought it would be fun to have some banquette seating in the kitchen.

That puppy in the last photo on her blog is so cute. Makes me want to go over there and play with it.

Some great reclaiming work. I love that high back bench as well. But I think I love “Bean” more, such a cutie.

But even cuter, did you see the post before this one on her blog about her new puppy, mr finn? OMG, that is the most adorable little guy.

And I do hope if you do get your pup in a Halloween costume that we’ll get to see a picture. (i was cruising the comments on the other posts).

It’s beautiful and I love the color palette. I just feel like I can’t see everything. I would love to see a shot of the whole room rather than only up-close features. I would love to know if that backsplash in the kitchen is tile. It looks like wallpaper.

That is a great bench, however having children and pets usually rules out white leather for most homes. Love the idea of a high backed bench that invites conversation and relaxation in a kitchen.
