No Place Like Home

by hookedonhouses on March 19, 2011

I used to love the TLC show “While You Were Out”–anyone else remember that one?–and one of my favorite designers on it was Stephen St. Onge. Since then I have followed his “House Calls” column in Better Homes and Gardens, so you can imagine how exciting it was for me to get a nice note from him last year, saying he reads my blog.

He has kept in touch since then, so I knew he was working on a book. Now No Place Like Home is out, and I can’t wait to read it! He’s having a giveaway on his blog to celebrate. Prizes include a Free Room Design Consult with him, a $500 American Express Gift Card, and signed copies of his book.

Check out Stephen’s blog for more details on how you can throw your name in the hat. Good luck, and let me know if you win anything! :-)

While you Were Out was my favorite. They had much better “afters” than any other show…and of course there was Jason the carpenter awho was VERY easy on the eyes! I was so sad when that show stopped coming on! Glad to get a bit of an update. The book looks fantastic! I will definitely be checking it out! Thanks so much for sharing!!!!

Ha. Yes I do remember that show! Was he also on Trading Spaces? I remember thinking he seemed like a nice guy. :)

I had no idea he has a book out. If the cover is any indication, I’m sure it will be full of inspiration as well as advice. So cool that he reads your blog!

I have never heard of this show, but he seems like a good interior designer. I entered the sweepstakes, and I’m fine not winning.

Thanks for the post. Have a nice day!

I liked that show better than the one where the couples traded homes. He’s one of my favorite designers on TV, along with Candace Olsen! And he wrote you!!! I would’ve peed in my pants! Going over there now to enter and tell him how I heard about it!!

Loved the show, loved that they teased the host (who was in a boy band and had his own doll), and loved Stephen’s designs.

Thanks for telling us about the book (which now goes to the wish list immediately) and the blog (which I’ll go see immediately).

Just entered! The book looks like a great one…win or no win I’m getting one! His style is so comfortable and homey, he should have his own show .
Thanks for the heads up and have a lovely weekend…

Thanks for the link to Stephen’s blog but what a nuisance to scroll past all those pictures he has at the top to read it!

I despised that show, (along with ‘Trading Spaces’) but remember Stephen as a talented designer who really stood out. Good to know he is having continued success!
