Hooked on Holiday House Tours: Impromptu Linky Party!

by hookedonhouses on December 1, 2010

Come on in! I’ve been decorating for Christmas this week–have you? Several of you have asked if I’d be hosting my Hooked on Holiday House Tours party again this year, and the answer is yes. In fact, I’m going to have THREE of them. That way you can jump in and post your photos whenever you’re ready–starting today!

Christmas vignette buffet wideshot

That’s right–it’s an impromptu linky party. If you’re not ready to post anything today, just come back next Thursday…or the Thursday after that. We’ll spread the holiday inspiration around a little that way.

This year I went with silver and gold in my dining room, as you can see. My family room is red and white, so it was fun for me to try something kind of different.

Cmas vignette on antique table

I went a little crazy with the mercury glass–mercury glass Christmas trees, candlesticks, votives, and ornaments on my new white tree.  (You may recall I also used mercury glass for fall–you can see how my dining room looked last month here if you missed it!)

closeup of reindeer on buffet

I’ll show you my new white tree and the rest of the room next Thursday (December 9). And the Thursday after that I’ll give you a gander at my red and white family room (December 16).

Between Naps on the Porch’s Deck the Halls party is in full swing, Southern Hospitality is hosting a Christmas Vignette linky, and The Lettered Cottage is throwing a Christmas Mantel party, so you might want to link up to theirs, too! The more the merrier, right? :-)

If you’ve got a holiday post to add to the party, all you have to do is:

  1. Add the permalink to the specific blog post (not your general blog address).
  2. Link back to this post from yours (feel free to use that button, created for me by Amy!).
  3. Start clicking!

Hey. Julia! thanks for the mention, this is so fun all these parties. I just love your house & how you decorate simply, but so elegant. I’m a mercury glass lover too & pile it all on a sofa table. All of your decor looks so great! Did you get new drapes? I don’t remember seeing those. Love them!!

Thanks again! I might just do another impromptu linky later on too. I think there will be so many parties this year.

Sally December 1, 2010 at 10:34 pm

The mercury glass is beautiful! Do you find it at one store in particular, or are you just good at scouting it out various places? (I esp. loved the pumpkins for fall – I’m sort of partial to pumpkins!)

Julia, you are so getting me into the mood to do some decorating. But I am going to wait a little, because here in the Netherlands we’ve got another holiday on December 5th and I don’t like to start my Christmas decorating before that. We’re hosting a party for a family in our home for the first time, so I am pretty excited. This year will be the first time that I get my own tree :D

I love that blue cabinet in the second picture by the way.

OH, I love this post! Your home is always a treat to see, and your pictures of your dining room are beautiful! I need mercury glass!!!
I also love all the links..it’s like an extra special gift!
I have found that because my front door is red, and the exposure under the over-hang, nothing really shows well on my door. I think I’m going to do silver and gold, which means yet ANOTHER wreath! Or I may just remake what I have with more embellishments.
By the way…I picked up a mercury glass pumpkin the other dat at Hobby Lobby for $1.90, it was 90% off! That made my day!!
