I looked at the “are they selling houses here?” link. The photo that cracks me up is the mother and daughter playing chess while drinking champagne and dressed to the 9′s…selling luxury lifestyle. Let’s get real here…too funny! Janell

P.S. the “Are They Selling Houses in These Listing Photos?” cracked me up! You know what’s even worse is that people will actually buy into that idea…

I also looked at the “are they selling houses here?” link, and though the first impression is “this is ridiculous!”, my second thought was “I can’t believe that this ad would appeal to ANYONE..even a snob!” It is classist, racist, and generally idiotic! Though I did spot that muscular black fellow staring at the blonde in the weight room. But maybe he was her trainer? Certainly not a resident of the mansion? People like this (snobby idiots) really get to me. No offense against you, Julia. You just report the news, not invent it.
Jen–
When I was watching that slideshow, my husband walked in and asked, “What are they selling?” I told him, “Not what you think!”
I’m not really sure who they’re appealing to with those photos. Not me! Thought it was interesting, though. I guess desperate times and all that… -Julia
Awww thank you Julia!! You made my Friday!!
xoxo
Off to check out the other links now…
I will probably see that movie this weekend, strictly to see the house. It looks like a good house movie.
Love the neat shot of the Brooklyn home, and I can’t wait to read more about the home from “Life as We Know It.” I really want to see it.

Ok that Peter & Assoc. site for “lifestyle photography” is hilarious! I’m sorry… but looking at half naked people practically making out is NOT going to make me want to buy the house. Anyway, I bet they don’t even come with the home!

Thankyou for all of the links! That house tour was pretty fun. I loved all of genious ideas John & Sherry came up with.
I love Linda Evans’ land. If I had money like her, I too would by beautiful property here in Washington.
Loved Linda Evans home and recent lifestyle. How wonderful to have a family member on every corner of your land!
I really enjoyed the tour of John and Sherry’s house. They are very talented and it’s wonderful to see such talent put to good use.
So much to see here…I could keeping on commenting, but will just say, I enjoyed every link!!

Great links!
The “are they selling houses?” link is ridiculous.
Great to see Linda Evans and her homestead.
Just an FYI- My anti-virus is popping up and blocking the “My design Guide” link.
That’s odd. I just double-checked and McAfee is giving me the green light for that one. I wonder what could be setting yours off? Anyone else having issues? -Julia
lol. I just saw Life as We Know It last night and immediately thought of your blog Julia! It was such a great livable house with charming street appeal (reminded me of Father of the Bride–such a favorite. )
)
Wonderful home and delightful movie. The little girl is beyond adorable. (as is Josh Dumell
Julie. You. Are. Killing. Me! I went to your site today because of a commercial I saw for “Life as we Know It” and immediately thought, “I think I’m gonna love that house-got to see that movie.” Plot be d@mned! Second thought was, “I want to suggest this to Julia at Hooked..” and low and behold, sister, first thing that pops up is a pic of that movie! You are sooo way ahead of me! And, now, I’ve got to see that blasted scary movie ‘The Uninvited’ because that house looks awesome. So, again, you’re killing me.
Thanks for sharing the “past meets present” blog with us. I just finished blogging about Robert Gardiner’s estate in East Hampton that is up for sale. I too put in a few before and after photos. I wish I could have taken the photos myself!

Hi, thanks for your link to the chart art, which I indeed love. I did not love their price tag however when following the link. Auch… So, I thought, instead, I should share with you my sources for free chart art.
I have some shell charts that are nearly identical to the one you are featuring here, as well as some others compatible with the shell chart, free: http://www.finecraftguild.com/vintage-shell-prints-for-beach-cottage-decorating/
Hope you like them.

I would love to see the New York appartment from the 1991 movie Deceived starring Goldie Hawn. I haved watched that movie twice today just to take in the beautiful colors and architecture of the appartment.
