Hey! Hearty congrats on the NYT mention! :) (And for the record, I don’t mind the blue-gray variety of gray — when it’s paired with lovely, fresh white!)

Great article about gray being the new Turquoise. I love the color or lack thereof, but I know I would never pull it off. I’d be sneaking all sorts of other color in and then it wouldn’t have the same impact.

The picture of the kitchen in the grey article is so beautiful. If I had the space I would love a look like this, but I decided to go down the cute and cozy route, with a pop of colour here and there. I love looking at the houses here… sometimes for inspiration and sometimes just to be in awe of. Keep doing what you’re doing! Lx

If you like log cabins, you should check these out. Wisper Creek Log Homes.

They even have a new hybrid model that looks more like a lake house. COOL!

Great collection this weekend Julia. Greys are hot right now…

Congrats on making the NYT! That house turned into a library is insane and fabulous all at once. My husband would do something like that. :)

Oh, wow! I would die for a house I could turn into my own personal library! Of course, my husband would probably never see me again, but still how awesome it would be filling up a whole house with books!

I’ve actually stayed the night in a castle-turned-hotel: the Hirschhorn on the Neckar River in Germany. Absolutely stunning!! I enjoyed clicking over to see the other hotels-the one in Scotland is lovely.

Can’t WAIT to read the article about gray being the new turquoise. I’ve been planning on painting my kitchen gray. :) It seems neutral enough without being builder beige. ;)

I love the Henderson Castle in Kalamazoo, Michigan. If I could, I would stay there.

I can’t tell you how many times I have dreamed of living in a log cabin. I even looked at houseplans a couple weeks ago. Too bad I am not rich.

Julia,
Your welcome! If it weren’t for your website, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy my passions of houses. Thankyou for all you do for us.

Regarding the sale of the Dean mega-mansion. Tyler Perry is quoted as saying he is going to tear down the house and build something more environmentally friendly – how stupid is that. What a waste and landfill clogger over 32k square feet of construction that is. What about just taking the home “off-the-grid” and living green while you are there!

I thought the same thing. Seemed like some faulty reasoning there! -Julia

Hi Julia! Funny about your search results for this week – I was just looking @ your Marley & Me page the other day. What about featuring the Ewan/Piece movie, the Ghost Writer in one of your posts? It’s an awful, wretched movie so don’t actually watch it…. but the house is ocean-front & institutional. Crazy windows.

OMG
You got mentioned! How totally brilliant! I love it! Congrats!
As for the offensive home in question, looks like it would make a great hotel.

Gray = Gorgeous! I love it and employ her in my home regularly.
Monopoly = Really? Wow!

I loved CDT’s post about grey – I am trying to convince my mom to let me redo her kitchen/breakfast room/den, and I want to use grey for the walls.

I LOVED the library house. What a cool idea! I wish they had posted more B & A pics, or just A pics. Obviously, a house/design blogger didn’t write the article. You or Joni from CDT would have rocked it!

Congrats on the NYT mention. I love your blog!

Kelly

P. S. I mad my mom watch It’s Complicated last night just for the house. She really didn’t like it (hates Alec Baldwin) but I really wanted to see it. I did think Meryl was good, and I liked Steve and all the actors who played the kids. The house, of course, was the star. And I loved the bakery! I’m going to reread your post right now!

Love the Log Cabin link.

And Congrats on the NY Times mention! I can’t believe they quoted my comment! I can honestly say, I NEVER saw that coming. :-)

As always, love your blog and your passion for houses.
