This red-brick house holds a lot of sentimental value for me. We moved into it 15 years ago as new parents, and our children did a lot of their growing up there. I still get a little homesick for it sometimes, but at least I have photos to remember it by.
And now I have a portrait of it, too, by Stephen Walker. I can’t tell you how happy this makes me! Want to see it? He posted it on his website, Walker Studio. What a great idea. I always thought I would try and do my own. The old I can do that but will I? Love the classic lines of that house. I’m sure you have some wonderful memories and looking at it makes them all come rushing back.

I’ve actually been thinking about this lately, so it’s fun to see some examples. I would do the home we are moving from next month. We’ve lived in it for 5 years while my husband attended school. We’ve had two children here and it’s hard to think about leaving. It would be a great memory to take with us.
We just moved from a house that we lived in for 13 years. It was the house that my kids grew up in. Even though we built and moved into our dream house, the old house is missed. I would love to have a picture of it to remember it by.

I love that Idea, what a great way to remember a home you love and pass it on to future generations. I would have my current home illustrated especially since it it the home I grew up in. My husband and I just bought our first house together…that’s what I would love to have painted!
I would have my great-grandmother’s house done. I played in the attic there as a child and have many fond memories of the house. The house was built in 1835 and was used by Union officiers during the Civil War. It’s always been a very special house to me.

I have a picture of my family house, the one my children grew up in, and it was given to us years before we bought it.
A friend of my husband gave it to us when we were first married, just because it was a nice old etching. After we bought and moved into the house (two children and ten years later), we were unpacking and found it – the self-same place. Good magic, don’t you think?

My home now. It’s the home I raised my boys in and I have lived here for 30 years. It has been a refuge and a home full of love.
This was a hard one because there are so many houses that have meant something to me in my life. However, I would like to have a picture done of my dream house to help keep me and my husband going while I am finishing up on my double Masters degrees. We know we want some sort of 1920-40s bungalow because we love to live vintage (we met at a WWII dance reenactment and had a 50s wedding in a bowling alley). We see houses all the time that we just adore and I know it would be so much fun sitting down with him and looking for the house to be painted!

recently with the help of my dad I was able to purchase my first home. I would love to have a portrait of it made to give to him to thank him for everything he has done for me.
Of course, I’d pick our current house, which is our first house. In a couple weeks, we’ll be celebrating our one year anniversary in our home and a portrait would be a totally awesome way to celebrate!!

My present home is an old Victorian next to a historic district in a small town in Iowa. Our community looks like a small New England town and is very picturesque. I would love a portrait of our home. We have a beautiful garden in the back with a three-tiered cast-iron fountain. That might be a nice view as well!

I would pick our current home. We just bought it and moved into our ‘forever’ house, as we like to call it, 3 months ago. It is the home we plan to start a family in and the first place we both ever felt totally at peace in. A portrait of it would be amazing!

I would like to have a drawing done of my husband’s grandparents home. They were very dear to him throughout his growing up years — particularly his grandfather who loved him and taught him how to be a man when his own father could not. This home has a lot of special memories for him and now, as he lost his grandfather last summer and his grandmother is gravely ill, I believe this portrait would be a special reminder of that which he has not lost.

I love this idea! I would choose the house my husband and I bought when we got engaged. It was built in 1912 and has lots of old-fashioned character. It is where we spent the early years of our marriage. Two babies were brought home from the hospital to this house and one more was born in the sunny master bedroom.
Of course, it is in the core area of our city so the lot was teeny and there were party animals next door.
We have since moved to a suburban bungalow with more room to run, but I still miss my pretty doll house from time to time.

A portrait of our current house would be lovely! It’s the first house we’ve purchased in 10 years of married, Air Force life and we love it.
Oh, I would *love* to do my parents home! My father built it himself 40 years ago (with a little helps from all of us kids) and they raised all 4 of us there. They are in their 70′s now, and we each have our own home & families, but it will ALWAYS be HOME. They beautifully landscaped it themselves over the years by transplanting perennials from my grandparents’ garden, digging up saplings and planting seeds. My dad grew all our vegetables in the garden out back (and still does). The sapplings are huge trees now and have had kids & grandkids climbing in them, swinging in their branches and forts built underneath. They still do all their own yardwork (nearly 2 acres) despite their age and it’s a haven in this crazy world. My dad built the house, but they made it a home. To have a portait of it would be an amazing honor!

I would definitely pick my grandparent’s house. My grandmother was recently put in assisted living and is devistated she can’t be at home. My mom is also holding on to her childhood home as much as she can now that no one is living there any longer. It would be a perfect present for both of them. I could just see how much joy it would bring to them.
I would LOVE this! We actually move out of our current house next week. We brought both of our children home to this place and it is going to be so hard to leave. We are on to better things (more room to play, a better school district)… but this place will be hard to leave!

My husband is a general contractor and I am an interior designer. We are currently finishing our personal home (3 weeks to go!) and it has been very difficuclt. We began the process a year and a half ago, when the market was much better, but now things are different…much less work for us. We have continued building our “dream house” for us and our 4 kids, but it hasn’t been very “dreamy”. It’s hard to excited about our new house, when we aren’t staying busy building other people’s new houses.
We would love, love, love something like this to look at this home in a positive light!

I’ve been wanting a portrait of our current house for awhile now and haven’t found the perfect artist to create it! I love Stephen’s style. We built the house we currently live in while my husband was in Iraq right after we were married in 2006. This is the house he came home to after being overseas for 15 months. I love it and love that it was complete when he finally came home.

I have a portrait of our first home where my oldest son was born, but sadly, we had to leave it. I never thought our current house would feel like home or that I would ever care about having a portrait of it, but after seven years here, we’ve made it our own and it has been home to two new babies! We’re in our first house which is also our forever house. We thought about moving at one point because there isnt’ much storage but after looking couldn’t find anything better and decided we didn’t need to keep a lot of stuff after all. Some remodeling inside and out has made it so beautiful and functional, we just love it. Our own little slice of lovely.

Although, a painting of my parents’ house, a little adobe-style in New Mexico would be a great gift since they’re selling it to move to Florida. Hmmm… selfish or unselfish? I would love to have a portrait of my grandparents house. It was built in the late 1700′s in Beaufort, North Carolina. It is a historic house and my grandfather “Pop” who is 101 years old still lives there. He moved there in 1946. My grandmother passed away 7 years ago. Pop sits on the front porch everyday and speaks to the people walking by visiting our beautiful town!

This may seem weird but I would want one of the buildings painted from my college. College was my home for four years and where I met my husband in person for the first time, right in front of the building I would want painted. It’s also where I work and holds a lot of special memories for me. It is an amazing place and such beauitful building.

I would love to have a portrait done of my childhood home in Alexandria, Virginia. My parents still live there after 35 years and it is a traditional colonial with white pillars in front. It has so much meaning and memories for us all (7 kids!) and would make a beautiful family heirloom someday.

I would love a portrait of my last house which was waterfront property. It was on a wooded bluff lot and had a tree house feel. However, I’m not sure I have a good picture of it from the front (the side that faced the river) so I might have to settle for a portrait of the mid-century cape cod that I currently live in.

She passed away in 2007 at the age of 94 and left me the house. I decided to move back to FL from Seattle and live here again. I would choose to have a picture of the house we are listing for sale in just a few weeks. We are a military family and have moved every few years throughout my husband’s career and always lived in base housing, where nothing was quite ours and everything felt temporary. Three years ago we were reassigned to lovely Enid, Oklahoma and purchased a house of our own. My three girls each had their own rooms for the first time and we have had a wonderful time updating this house and making our own. After three years, though, it’s time to move again. I cry when I think of leaving this house, the first house that ever really felt like it was OURS. Oh, how I would love to have a portrait of it to take with us!

I would get a portrait done of my mother’s house. It’s the house I grew up, and the house many family gatherings and special events have taken place in. Such a special place to me and my family.

One Friday night about 10 years ago, we noticed someone was building a house on a lot we had always admired. We drove out to see if it was for sale and it was (a previous deal had fallen through.) When we asked to see the floor plan we could not beleive it – it was identical to one that I had clipped from the paper years before. My dream house. By Monday it was ours so of course I would love to have a portrait of this one.
I would pick our current house – which is our first! We loved it the minute we walked in.

Eleven years ago my husband and I moved to our (almost) 200 year old farmhouse in apple country in upstate NY. We would love a portrait of this old house. We have shared many happy times here along with a few sad moments and look forward to the day when our grandbabies can enjoy this farm and land with us. It would be a wonderful gift.

One of my husband’s most prized possessions is a watercolor of his grandparents’ house painted by his aunt. A portrait of our home would be so special. My husband and son Connor and I bought our lovely home 2 years ago. My whole adult life I would continually say “When I get where I’m going”. Those who know me well heard this so much. Well we got there and we could not be happier. Our home is 37 years old and is in the perfect place. We feel like we live in a state park. Lovely trees everywhere with gently rolling hills and nature galore. Every day we all wake up and feel so blessed to be here together. I remember when I was a teenager, and there were so few houses there, but I so wanted to live there….looks like I made it.

I would love to give my mom a portrait of the house she grew up in. They sold the house after my grandfather died a few years ago. I have photos of the house and have been meaning to get them done into a portrait for some time. I’d love to give it to my mom as a retirement gift.

Oh, wow–what a WONDERFUL giveaway! I’d choose to have a portrait of this house. We’ve only lived here five years, but I’m hoping that it’ll be a very long-term home. Funny thing, though. . . today I wrote a post about the house we lived in before we moved here. I guess we always feel attached to spaces we shared with our little ones, don’t we?

I have an emotional attachment to all of the houses we’ve lived in, but I think I would have a drawing done of the current one. It’s unlike a house I’ve ever lived in before with double front porches. It just naturally lends itself to a drawing!

My husband and I are currently building our first house. Its nearly done and its everything I wanted and cute to boot! Knowing this will be our home where we will eventually raise our babies makes it all the more special.

The one thing I remember is when my two sons were little they asked if they were going to live here with us after they got married! We just laughed! I would have my childhood home, from 0 to 23 I grew up there. A few years ago after my parents divorce and mother moving away it was sold. I drive back and visit when I’m in the area and was so sad to see last month that it’s empty and been foreclosed on left in pretty bad shape. I would love to have a portrait painted from an old picture, the way I remember it!

The house we live in now is my dream house. Although it isn’t finished yet, I love that my husband and I did ALL the work – and made our house a home! I love my house!
Oh my! Definitely our little cabin in the mountains. It’s fabulous, log with Pine Trees and a great front porch.
I would choose my current house. We have worked so hard on the inside that we haven’t done much for the curb appeal. I would love to see how he corrects our landscaping flaws! He may inspire our next project…

I would love to have a drawing of my current house. It’s my dream house – a small stone capecod built in 1936. I LOVE my house. It makes me smile everytime that I pull into the driveway. We moved in as a young married couple and have had both of our children here. They are both in junior high now and we have so many wonderful memories in this house. I can remember being devastated to learn that I had a miscarriage and then years later finding out that we had been chosen by a birth mother to adopt a baby girl. Then when she was 11 months old finding out that I was pregnant and nine months later we had our son. We have had so much fun decorating out home and sharing it with our beautiful children and our golden retrievers.
I would love a drawing of our old farmhouse. We recently added a side porch and a pen & ink rendering would be lovely!! What a great giveaway.

I once toured a home where the owners had portraits of all their previous homes right by the front door. What a cozy and sweet idea.
So many happy memories are being created to in our current home that I think having a happy portrait of it would be the way to go… but I may have to save up for our previous home’s portrait to be done too!

I would choose the house we currently live in, it’s special because of so many happy memories & is the only home that our youngest son has ever known who is now 22 years old. My husband always says that we will live here forever. The pictures are so beautiful that I wish we could have one of each house we have lived in.

I would love the home we live in currently. We moved here when we were pregnant with our first son. It’s seen us through some WONDERFUL times and horrible times. We survived a fire, my husband’s father passing (after receiving a new lung) and our sister in-law’s miscarriage at 21 weeks all in one month. It’s been repaired and our memories continue in the house we call our home. Now filled with two great boys, two great dogs and a mom and dad who love each other … LOTS!

I have always wanted a picture of the house I grew up in. Many of my dreams are set in that house… My parents sold it and moved when I was in my early 20s, and I miss it!
I would love to have our current house drawn. Both my children were born while living here and the house holds many good memories.
