I love looking through vintage cookbooks like this one from BH&G: Solstice Home.
Also love looking at beach-house floor plans. This one comes with your own lighthouse! The Plan Collection.
Can you guess what this furniture holds? Look inside: Greentea Design.
My Sparrow, Solstice Home, Walker Studio, Greentea Design, The Plan Collection, and Heather Bullard sponsor my blog. Thanks for visiting them!

I love the TV Step at Greentea Design and read the history of the Japanese step chest. Very interesting. Imagine owning one of the rare antiques!

I love vintage cookbooks!
I have several from my grandmothers and I think they are so cool.
Thanks for shopping for us so we don’t have to do the searching.
It is a dream to have a beach house and love looking at floor plans! Such fun…Janell

The Free As A Bird painting is so sweet, and the house portraits are a great idea
Thanks for the links

Awesome finds! I love them all, especially the beach house floor plans and the house portraits. My parents will most likely be selling their dream home that they custom designed from head to toe this summer because of the recession, so a house portrait of it would probably be a great memento for a moving-away present.

I, too, love the Greentea Design Japanese step chest. What a great story behind this piece of furniture.
Gosh, if I had known 10 years ago how popular old cookbooks would become, I would have saved my mother’s massive stash of cookbooks. I hope whoever bought them at Half Price Bookstore loves them.
The house portraits were lovely. It made me wish I had had this done for my parents’ house before we sold it…10 years ago. It also led me to check out what a friend is doing with here house portraits: http://nancysart.com/ – it is a different style than Stephen Walker’s – I like them both. I even people who are able to draw and paint.
Enjoyed the post. Thanks.
Love the little bird and the step cupboard! What a great idea. I should really get my parents a house portrait. After a lifetime of apartment/townhouse living they are in their first stand alone house and it is the cutest little thing. I wish I had a picture of every house my husband and I have lived in together, they would make a cute little painting set. All yellow houses, all by accident. Of course now it has become a thing so we will probably paint all future houses yellow too!
Love the painting!! Also your post on Tony Shalhoubs home is fabulous!

Julia, I love your blog but could you please get some new sponsers. What, no stick views this time?
Kelly–
My sponsors do tend to stick around for a long time! I’ve got a couple of new ones coming in May, though. Just hold on a little longer… Ha. -Julia

I have a BHG Lunches & Brunches cookbook–a fine source of painting inspiration for me. And the copy in those old cookbooks can’t be beat for fine entertainment. Ha!

I love this house. I absolutely love molding, woodwork, trim work that is painted white. I love the fresh, clean, crisp feeling of it.
