Welcome to Freaky House Photos Friday! Today I’m encouraging bloggers to take a break from the picture-perfect rooms they usually show us. We get enough of those every other day of the week, and I thought it would be fun to see something…different. Like this lime-green “modern kitchen,” as the real estate agent calls it.
A reader found this listing in Australia (thanks, Eddy!), and it can be yours for about $5 million (*cough*). I don’t think I’ve ever seen a vaulted, beamed ceiling that points down like this. This room has got so much goin’ on that it definitely qualifies as “freaky.”
Okay, bloggers–now it’s your turn to show us some Freaky House Photos:
- Add the permalink to the specific blog post, not your general blog address.
- Link back to this party from your post so your readers know what’s going on.
- Double-check to make sure your link works and goes to the right page so it doesn’t get deleted.

I don’t know that my post is nearly as interesting as that lime green inverted vaulted ceiling in your post. I do have a lonely deer and wall to wall sofas to see
Thanks for posting a fun party. Can’t wait to see what everybody posts!

All I can think of is eating Avocados in that kitchen. This is a fun idea for a blog party. Thanks for hosting it!

Hmmm, lovin’ the chinois shaped lighting fixture. Very interesting! Must have been a super special order to have found it’s way into a 5 million dollar home! I love checking in on Fridays! Thanks!
Julia,
Thanks for hosting this blog party. It’s one of the best yet.
I can’t tell you how much fun I had looking for photos. It made me laugh.
That Lime Green room is perfect for Freaky House Photos Friday, it’s so ugly. There’s no way I would buy that restaurant even if I had the money.

Love this! Didn’t post an ugly house – or did I????

Hmm….I’m not crazy about the green, but I actually think I like this kitchen! Definately different! I think burgundy or beige would be more my preference in place of the green.

Well what was that builder thinking? It’s fun seeing some “freaky” rooms, reminds the eye what a pleasure good design is. Janell

Wow, I don’t quite know what to say about that “modern kitchen”. Yikes.
Thanks for the fun themed Friday!

Hi Julia its almost bedtime and end of good friday over here but I could not switch off the comp without saying something this is going to be fun thanks for the great idea as for the lime green kitchen I wonder what Gordon Ramsay would say? I must admit I look at a lot of Oz home mags and I’ve never seen anything like this well not in the 5mil+ and I thought they were boring hah….. Till next time all the best Regards Esther from Sydney… bring on the Easter Eggs (shameless chocoholic)
I tried to link to my blog in the mclinky section, but I must be mclinky challenged. Any thoughts on how to fix it? thanks

Rosie–
I fixed it! You had the “www” in there, which your blog doesn’t need. Thanks for joining the party! -Julia
This kitchen is strangely cool to me.
Oh, my. It’s so, um, interesting…. I can’t join in yet, but I DO have a post planned for one of your upcoming parties.
This will be so fun!
I think a lot of people aren’t quite understanding the significance of the word “freaky” here. Several of the linked posts are ugly or awkward, but only few are truly freaky.
Thanks so much for hosting the part-ay! It is a great idea, and so fun to see the freakiness. I agree with Janelle, but I do think it’s rare to find living rooms with mannequins and inverted vault ceilings. I will keep looking though… you never know!

Are you sure that’s really a house and not a cantina trapped in time somewhere? NO WAY>>>>>>!!
This is a great idea Julia. I’ll have to get more on the ball and see what I can dig up for next week.

I’m so bummed. I don’t have any freaky pics. Love that crazy green kitchen though. It almost looks like a restaurant…buffet style:) Happy Easter Julia.

At least it’s not the same old, same old. But that’s ALL I can say positive about it.
I hardly know where to look first! I love your idea of posting less than picture perfect houses too. Of course in this case the “modern kitchen” is off the charts bad. $5 million … is that US Dollars or Australian ones?? Whatever the monetary system, this kitchen is a dilly!
Love,
Susan and Bentley

Hi-
I’m new to blogging and looking to start connecting with other designers. I loved searching for pictures this morning–my favorites were all houses for sale in Alaska! Thanks Julia for hosting, this was a great idea!
I look forward to connecting with all you wonderful designers soon!

That’s my favorite color but *wow*, that kitchen is awful. So did somebody say “hey, *everybody* does a vaulted ceiling upward, we should angle ours *inward*. How awesome would that be?” Crazy.

Is it just me or does this look like a buffet line bar area on a old cruise ship? Anyone else with me here??? Lol! That is great! I am going to have to check out the rest – perhaps see if I can find another classic to add to the collection!
Love it – this is so much fun Julia!

You know, I don’t think that kitchen is half bad!!! I really like it….even the green!
Wow…now that is GREEN! You have to admire someone who has the guts to do what they like, though!

I wonder if the home has a butterfly roof, or if this was an addition with a creative twist? I take photos of homes, but nothing that is usually defined as freaky, except for a recent post about a deadman’s door. The door is on the second story of the home, and leads to nowhere. Fortunately there is no lock on it, so you can readily fall out.
Hmm, wonder where I can find those cabinets for my kitchen
I kinda like this weird kitchen
