Solstice Home is an Etsy shop and Hooked on Houses sponsor that specializes in vintage finds like these. Here are a few things in the shop right now that I think are fun!

P.S. What are you guys up to this weekend? I’m working on a couple of magazine articles that I need to get turned in before Thanksgiving. And I need to get some Christmas shopping done.  I can’t believe the holidays are right around the corner!

oh I HATE it when I should be Christmas shopping and then I see a post full of things that would be perfect for ME. Really cool stuff – I’ll head on over and um… shop for my _friends_. [And yes, I have a magazine article that should have been finished 2 days ago that I'm still struggling with!]

Oh, what wonderful olden things. Love that tray and the penguin server/pot. I really don’t know what you call it. A lady used to bring food over to our house when one of us was down sick with something and she had this penguin pot! I loved it and have been looking for one. I think it’s just the cutest thing.
Thanks for bringing back a few memories. Now I’m hungry! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)

The penguin pot is actually an ice bucket. I have one sitting on my buffet – I love it’s shape. Great store – really fun vintage cameras!

This weekend is starting slow but should end in a whirl – leaving for Rome for a week on Monday. Washing, packing, shopping, scooter lesson, haircut, and a Sunday Saints game. Wheee!

Hi Julia..thank you for the sweet post :) ..Yes, I’ve been listing , listing, listing…trying to get all these wonderful finds up for the holidays.
The fun Penquin makes a great ice bucket…it’s really called the West Bend Penquin hot or cold server.
Now, I hope to get some shopping done myself :(

Ooooh. Nice finds!

What am I working on. Sleep.

Had a loooong (think 21 hours straight birth to attend…then a loooong breastfeeding session with a new mom).

Sleep is in my future. Then going to work on my big but chair

Anytime I try and Christmas shop, I end up buying a bunch of things for myself. I just find myself extremely easy to shop for and everyone else impossible :) . Good luck with your articles. Who do you write for?

NEAT cocktail mixer!! I was so excited to go to a “Merry Market” this morning with a friend. Her husband was home, so he kept their kids, but I had to bring mine. I only got to stay a few minutes b/c the oldest started acting like a royal pain in my you-know-what. Such a bummer. :( Not sure about tomorrow yet…would love to do some Christmas shopping too!

I grew up with the penguin ice bucket, we used as a cookie jar. The “mixer” is really an ice crusher/cracker, have one like it somewhere but in aqua. Both were wedding gifts to the parental carbon units. (Who gives cocktail stuff to an LDS couple?)
