You would not believe all of the e-mails I get from readers asking me for decorating advice. Seriously. I’m sorry I can’t help, but I’m a writer, not a designer. So here’s my free decorating advice for you–ask Kristin Drohan instead! Kristin, who is one of my blog’s sponsors, offers “Free Advice Fridays” on her blog, Boulevard Interior Design. I always find her answers to be helpful. This master bedroom, for example, was transformed after Kristin got ahold of it (you can see the before here).
One of her readers wrote in about this room:

Kristin says:
They are ready to change the baby room to a big boy room. The two boys have bunkbeds and share the room. They would like to keep the bunkbeds but are open to painting the light wood finish something different. The boys are into pirates and they would like the color scheme to have Blues and/or Greens.
To see how it turned out after the reader took Kristin’s advice, check out Baby to Big Boy Room. Other Free Advice Fridays you might find helpful: When Drapes Are Too Short and How to Organize Your Bookshelves.
Better yet, leave a comment on her blog asking your own design questions for Free Advice Fridays. Trust me–she’s much more qualified to answer them than I am!

Hi Julia, I just found your blog and so happy that I did. I’m so hooked on houses! I could spend hours here looking at beautiful houses. I’m adding you to my list of favorites so I can check back often.

I just looked at the before picture for that master bedroom. What a difference! She fixed up that whole house. It’s incredible what a good designer can do.

We have traditional oriental rug (with reds, navy blue, sage and browns) on hardwood floors. Blue leather furniture. What color to paint the walls?
