Is the Neighborhood That Bad?

by hookedonhouses on July 1, 2009

These homeowners take their home security seriously. Why bother with a run-of-the-mill alarm system when you can post armored statues to guard the front door?

This 2-bedroom home, described as a “fabulous Cape Cod in Encino on quiet cul-de-sac,” is listed for $1.6 million. No word on whether these unfriendly fellas come with it. (Via CurbedLA.)~

Ha–those things would look a lot better in Mel Gibson’s Tudor. Or blocking the doorway to that not-so-promising-looking bathroom RIGHT OFF THE ENTRY.

Really? Are they serious? These are so out of place here and totally out of scale. And in a Cape Cod?? yeeeshhhh…

Hi Julia, I worked at a store that carried these “knights” I HATED THEM…I mean they were really awful…but they sold like hotcakes! Geez!
I hope to link up tomorrow! See you then…

Those things would scare me every single time I came home. Not my style! I agree with Aubrey that they belong in Mel’s place. ;) Now they just need to dig a moat out front….

Mel Gibson’s Tudor!! I liked that one!
I think these guys might look interesting in a little boys room, well, if the room were in Mel Gibson’s Tudor I guess.
I can’t imagine having the urge to buy one of these, let alone two! And I couldn’t imagine having the urge to buy the home they were sitting in! I guess I’m one of those people who need ‘staging’ and it has to be just the right kind of staging. I just can’t see the potential sometimes, the house has to have some kind of interest, and these Knights just wouldn’t do it for me.

way out of place here…the scale is all wrong….they do belong in mel’s house..i agree!

Oh my god that is so funny – I think they look hysterical! I wonder if they’re there all the time?! Too funny!

Yes, number one, they’re sinister, but almost worse than that, the scale is so far out that even I spotted it!

That’s so funny. I once looked at a house that was “hooked on” King Tut and Aphrodite…rugs, wall art, pillows, and the list goes on. It was bizarre!

I really would like to meet the owners of this home. There has to be a dude behind this look, and I mean the idea not the armour. Let’s hope this was prep for a fab Halloween party.

There are 5′ or 6′ tall armored knights at TJMAXX for $90 and my 10 year old son is DYING for one – he is saving his money to put a knight in his room! This house would be perfect for a 10 year old boy!

That is too funny! Imagine being a guest at that home, how scared would you be walking into the front door? I can only imagine how the rest of the home is decorated.
