Rugs That Make a Statement

by hookedonhouses on April 9, 2009

I got such a kick out of John Pour Home’s Typography line of rugs, including this Little Black Rug, that I had to show them to you. On his website, the British designer writes: “I’m challenging the way we think of rugs.”

The rugs are made from felt and cut by hand. They start at $199 and go up from there.

It would be hard not to smile if you walked into a house and saw a yellow hello. I wouldn’t want anyone stepping on it with muddy shoes, though! For more unique decorating ideas, check out these creative wall tiles and fun wall decals.

Don’t forget–tomorrow is another Hooked on Fridays blog party! If you’re a blogger and want to participate, simply write a post about something you’re “hooked on” this week. I’ll have Mister Linky up and ready for you to start linking up by 10:00 tonight (ET). See you then!

We do monogram rugs and they are so popular right now!

They are funny and quirky, but I don’t know. With the possible exception of the ‘hello’ mat, I’m not sure they would really fulfill their function as a rug. Maybe it’s kinda like haute couture; more for looks than practicality.

It would be kind of a fun idea for a welcome mat.

Oh Dear!

Don’t mean to sound like a wet blanket – but not really liking these rugs at all . .Maybe for a business – but I’d be worried about people tripping over them.

But – as always – LOVE your blog!!

As usual – it’s interesting to see those prices for “things” like that – do people really pay for these?

Other than the hello mat, I’m not a fan.

I love these, don’t think that I would use the yellow though or any light color especially if I kept it a high traffic area.

I like that statement that these rugs will change the way you think about rugs. I did a double take with the little black rugs – very clever though as another commenter says – it might not be very functional (in a pure rug sense)
