Laugh all you want it but my home town on the map!! As much as we hate the stereotyping this series did for Dallas it sure made a well known city. What family lives all in the same house...I'd probably hit the bottle too like poor Sue-Ellen.

I wish theme songs still existed!! Just watching the opening credits got me excited about this blog! I wasn't even 1 when this episode aired! LOL But growing up I remember my mom watching it and I "just loved" the song! Great recap. I can't wait for the next one...if there's gonna be a next one?

Good job, once again, Julia!!

I actually lived to watch that show. It was a Friday evening ritual that I could NOT miss. And thank goodness, when I did have to miss it, I had a VCR to catch the episode. Back then I would be absolutely anal about setting up the timer correctly. God forbid, had I messed that one up as I would occasionally do. Had I messed up a Dallas recording session, I would have flipped out, I am sure.

The series lasted forever too. I have mostly forgotten all the story lines except for the unforgettable incidents such as this one. I also remember Priscilla Presley played Jenna Wade and when I had my son in 1984, I had picked out the name Jenna for a girl. In fact, there were lots of Jennas that were born in the mid-80s to the early 1990s.

I have often thought it would be fun to do what you did and view the DVDs. They simply don't make television like that anymore. It's all reality nowadays. It will definitely be on my list of things to do. LOL

Girl, you weren't lying about LOVIN' Dallas! I loved the post even though I never watched it--you really brought it to 80s life. Those rooms are HIDEOUS! The set decorator should be ashamed of him/herself--things weren't THAT bad in the 1980s for people with money, were they?

Oh, all the fake plants and flower arrangements.

great insights and retelling. As a therapist I am struck by the fact that the entire family was living together in that house. It was like a bee hive so no wonder they drank all the time.

I was teaching in Norway at the time and many of the people there thought we all lived in big white houses and drank like fish all day. I coule not convince them that our lives were not that rich or exciting.

Whoa - the drama of it all just kills me! I was 11 or 12 and didn't get to watch it, so I don't know who did it. And I can't believe the astronaut from I Dream of Jeannie turned so bad! :)

Thanks for the trip down memory lane! We were never BIG Dallas people, however - didn't everyone tune in the next season to find out "Who shot JR" !!??
We do remember that we loved Miss Ellie - and Lucy.....we never cared for her.
Now, Julia....what do you think - we're trying to come up with new hair-do's - should we cut out Sue Ellen's picture to take to our stylist - we could "bring it back" early (shouldn't be too much longer and it will be the "in" thing again!!)

That was the Best! I was laughing so much with your comments! There probably was a traffic jam on the way to shoot JR. I picture dozens of cars parked around his office building and big lines for the elevators. I wish the show was on now. The reunion will be so much fun! Wish I could go.

Julia, thanks for sharing your ice cream man story! That is hilarious. I can see how that could add up. The kids on our street run out there all the time too. I don't think he comes everyday though.

Really...$3.95 for a popsicle?! YIKES, I had no idea inflation had gone there too.
