Thank God Tracee is gone! 7 hours to shop, hello!
Think those internet photos of Mikey V. got him canned?
Who's going to do all the carpentry and hard work this week?
I like Matt's hosting, but he really needs to show some extreme design potential! None of the remaining 3 have so far, in my opinion, shown anything special. Compared to hot David Bromstad, now he has creative talent! I agree that Trish will be even more vindictive this week. She reminds me of the cute popular girl in school who would throw any of her BFFs to the wolves if it bettered her! Jen is ok, but I don't hink I could take her constant "perkiness" and her voice would get to me after a while, a short while! So, I guess I am rooting for Matt. Tune in Sunday! And, a new show following DS, The Stagers!

The kitchen episode was really interesting. And I agree, the kitchen was boring. Like many other viewers, Tracee had concerned me a little. But it seemed as if she was trying hard to mend fences and get along. I was extremely turned off by the way Trish and Mikey treated her and handled themselves during the planning of the kitchen redo. They were both total jerks and they are the 2 that should have been sent home. If anyone else would have acted the way Trish did, they would have been gone. I think Vern Yip has a big crush on Trish and he gives her way too much credit. Bet right now, she is your next Design Star. I would rather see Matt; he is extremely likeable and if you don't like the host - you aren't going to watch the show. I won't watch any show that Trish is the host of. We saw her real side in this last episode and it was NOT pretty.

Okay, I'm the only one that wants to comment on the whole "finding a stud" and "having a studfinder" staged conversation? While Tracee and Matt were out shopping and the rest of the team was cutting sheetrock, Jen said, "How do you find a stud?" and Mikey V. said "I"m right here". Only mildly funny, right?

Then....new shot. Jen says, "We should have a studfinder." and Trish says, "I'm right here."

Argghhhh! This is the best the producers can do? I do think the first exchange was genuine and adlibbed, but the second one with Trish- barf!

Okay, and the design. Blah! That all seemed so staged to me too! Like the producers told Tracee, "This week we will put you in charge of the dreaded kitchen project because you are the most unpopular and that was fun two years ago when we made Provo (or whatever her name was) do it. Then we want you to do a really bad job." It just all seemed so predictable.

I'm still hoping for Matt. *sigh* Those dimples!

Luvin' your recap once again this week! I felt so bad for the family! My parents have red toile wallpaper in their kitchen (I'm thinking of that family's "red" comment) and it looks gorgeous against white and black accents. And better yet, my brother and I hung it and it costs less than $300. So yeah, w/ 10K, that kitchen shoulda looked "WOW"...it was so NOT wow!

Tracee stop posting these ridiculous comments... HA HA!!
But seriously, what leader takes up a third of her teams time to shop for...nothing. She put her team at risk, the project at risk and most importantly, she did not deliver what her clients wanted. She failed! The makeover was sad and bottom line she picked out all the accessories. My heart sunk for the family when I saw the outcome, I am certain they were very disappointed,… a WHITE RUG under a FAMILY dining table???? Need I say more?

but I will... I completely understand why Tracee had to go, she may have her own design business, but she lacks elegance and taste. This was evident from so many of her poor choice over the past few weeks. The Midwest is different; it appears that in KY it is not necessary to have the sophistication of the east coast or the innovative style of the west coast. Even her business website shows examples that are of gaudy, predictable design. Tracee, was out of her league and did deserve to go home. Unfortunately she did not do that with style, or class either. Tsk Tsk, shameful.

[...] Design Star could learn a thing or two about staging reality competitions from Project Runway. Let’s hope the DS producers will be watching and taking notes for next season. Lesson number one: it’s all about the casting. [...]

What did she shop SEVEN hours for? Really. I'm confused. It looked like there were 2 accessories in that mediocre kitchen. It was alright. But I agree - it sort of looked..bleh.

They had plenty of money to do more with that kitchen. I thought the appliances were paid for with a gift card in addition to the $10,000 budget? The tile was bought and paid for, which is exceedingly wasteful. While I'd love to have any kind of update to my kitchen, that poor family deserved better.

I think Trish is a dark horse for this competition but I wish she'd come clean about her age or maybe swear off the hand close-ups. Dead giveaway. If that girl is 36, I will try out for cheerleader at the local high school, folks.

SO glad to see Tracee outta there. Loved her klassy exit speech, too. What a lay-DEE! Mikey V's hosting reminded me of Rocky Balboa—God bless ‘im. Not to mention that every single time he said, "I'm Mikey V," I couldn't stop remembering that lispy little Mike Tee Vee from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. “I’m Mike Tee Vee. I'm gonna be the firtht perthon in the world to be thent by television!!!”

Mikey could be the next carpenter side-kick like Ty Pennington (pre-Extreme Home Makeover) or Andrew Dan Jumbo, though. He seems to know his stuff.
