I like them if you have up to date decor, the furnishings, fixtures and wall colors in the pictures are quite dated. If they were up to date then the ceiling would add pizazz.

i think the first one is pretty as itself, but as a ceiling i dont really like it..
if they could be changed from the slightly cheesy swirls to something more modern and ‘cool’ (more angular, shapes maybe? play around with the light hitting it..?), i think they could be a centerpiece in a room in a futuristic/modern house. not distracting, but eyecatching. something that adds to the room.
but only if it was done completely right

I think you need the house for it. A ceiling like that in a modern home would seem out of place, but in a 100 year old home with 15ft ceilings, it would fit well in. The first two I like, the 3rd one is a little odd.

From one who has every ceiling in her home textured with ceiling paper, (the cottage-y, vintage look) I must say I’m not too keen on the textured nightmare of swirls and spirals overhead. It seems it distracts from the rest of the room. I never thought the ceiling needed to be a focal point, but kind of an after thought. But then, that’s just me.

Marie has a point. I actually do like them, but, I also live in a 150 year old house, and I think these would fit quite nice with our woodwork (at least the circular ones – if any of our rooms were square)

I generally *don’t* like textured ceilings either. Not the acoustic tile-esque popcorn ones, or the spiky balloon killing paint ones, but these aren’t so bad. Also, I reserve the option that they may be hideous in person.

not loving it. I like interesting ceilings but that just seems really dated to me. cool topic! I can actually say I’ve never seen ceilings done like this.
